um so I don't use steam a whole lot... but every time i have tried to DL a game off them and install it, they say their servers are busy. Is this common or just a glitch for me

It is not common, but has happened to me a few times, but it happened on weekends when they had great sales of games. Weekdays or late hours in USA time should be the best options to download from their servers.

Go to settings and check which server you're using. Try changing to another nearby server.

Aye. I've actually switched mine from the Denver to the Dallas server, and I get much better speeds and a more reliable connection. It's weird.

The only time I have gotten that message was the opening day of Steam for Mac and the first day of the free Portal download.

Hmm, I bought FEAR 1 the day they released it and downloaded it that night, finished up downloading it the following afternoon after work... no issues at all... I'd try a different server as mentioned above.
