At the expense of sounding like an ad (made a thread about EA going on Steam a while ago)...
there is a pretty sweet sale going on at Steam at the moment and I thought I'd share![]()
I think I'm going to pick up the Prince of Persia Pack, and either Witcher/Fallout 3/COD 4/Farcry 2

Already posted yesterday in the bargains subtopic....
-
Ah, my fault
I suppose this can be closed/deleted then, and if gaming sales are posted there I need to check those more often ^^
-
Ya, it was posted here first then moved to the bargains section. Quick thought before this is closed, The Witcher is an amazing game and has huge replay value.
-
witcher is on steam ?? hmm may be not in the uk

Im glad you posted this up as i didnt even know this was going thanks bro!
-
Yeah, I think it's appropriate to be in the Gaming section and not bargains. It is truly 100% gaming related and Steam has the attention of so many gamers.
-
Steam just ate my Christmas money. 14 games for 200 bucks, *drools*.
-
Wow. What'd ya get if you don't mind me asking? Was thinking of getting Mass Effect but am worried it will be too much along the lines of Oblivion, meaning extremely wide open and not along the lines of The Witcher in terms of RPGs. No playable demo which really kind of sucks too.
-
lol what did ya get?
-
how about you tell us about the best deals available?
-
I have Mass Effect for Xbox360, loved it so much I bought it again on Steam. Not like Oblivion, which annoyed me with the extreme openness. I think you are the first other person I've met who felt the same.
Other than that, I already had Bioshock. Considered Crysis, but used the DRM as an excuse to spend 50 dollars on other games.
I got the Prince of Persia pack, I loved the first two games, this way I get those and the third and new remake. I filled my Sid Meier collection, got all the Civs and Pirates. Got Jade Empire (fantastic and light RPG, similar to KOTOR). Got Heavy Weapon Deluxe (popcap, heh) because it was 99 cents. Got Defense Grid because I like tower defense gameplay. Then World in Conflict because I finished the Warhammer 40K games and Company of Heroes and need an RTS.
In the end I got Fallout 3, because I want a chance to like a Bethesda game, and this one has the best shot (not being an Elder Scrolls title). I recommend Orange Box or Left4Dead if you don't already have it.
Oh Dear...it's going to be a tough semester. *grin* -
wait what?? you say you are annoyed by the extreme openness off Oblivion, yet you still wanna try Fallout 3? Fallout 3 is just as open as Oblivion..
anyways, how is world in conflict? i've been looking at it for some time now as well -
NOTHING is like Oblivion or Morrowind. The worlds may be open, but the actual problems I had with Oblivion with the 'open' skill system and 'open' leveling aren't as apparent. Also, as I said I really want to like a Bethesda Studios product (they make Oblivion/Fallout3), so I want to give this a shot.
As for WiC, decent game, more tactical battle than most, essentially zero base building. I wonder if Supreme Commander will ever hit Steam... -
yeah the leveling system made oblivion completely open-ended, you can go anywhere on level 1 without getting owned, same is not true for fallout 3.
-
I know that most people have an issue with it, but THANK GOD.

Well guys have I bought my games
i am extremely pleased
Bioshock, Fallout 3, and left 4 dead for $80? Yes please if i had to rate EACH of these games they would all get over 9 easily man this is like 3 months of gaming right here
at the end it was a toss up of Fallout 3 vs prince of persia pack(EXCELLENT DEAL) and i just went with fallout 3 the reason being is i can already see prince of persia in the not so distant future going on sale still 4 prince of persias including the new one for $45 is hella good i was hoping devil may cry 3 would be on sale but it was only $17.99($2 off)
I also looked at crysis 1 & 2 both games but i couldnt justify only $3 off each im sure there will be a discount on the crysis pack and i will just buy both at once but overall i loved it and this is the reason i keep coming back to steam
Happy Holidays

I went ahead and bought several games. Bioshock (I've played a borrowed copy but at $5 its a steal to own), The Witcher (Good game and with a good discount added to it), Left 4 Dead (Zombie apocalypse? Why not?), and Far Cry 2 (Crytek fan). I wanted to get Fallout 3, but mods were important to me (*cough* Oblivion *cough*) and wasn't sure of Steam compatibility. :-/ Plus, I had already spent too much...Should last me to the end of next semester though...
-
crytek has nothing to do with far cry 2, it's all ubisoft's work on that one.
-
I bought Mount and Blade and Bioshock for under $20 bucks. O and my friend got me Hitman Blood Money for my bday some im set for some months of gaming.
-
Just picked up Bioshock, CS:S, and Peggle Deluxe. There goes the last of my illegal games (CS:S, which I never actually played), PROUD TO BE CLEAN!
-
ScifiMike12 Drinking the good stuff
Just to clarify, is the Steam version of BioShock DRM-free? I tried doing a quick search and kept coming up with some mixed answers.
-
Looks like it's DRM free: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=775287&highlight=bioshock+drm

I blew like 250 bucks in a single go and I am thinking about getting more games. This sale sucks for my bank account.
I can't see Bioshock or the Grand Theft Auto games. I have a Canadian account and I am in Israel for a bit... would that affect anything?
