I am having the same problems with Steam on my desktop as I was with my laptop. I simply can't get either Counter Strike, nor Half Life 2 Deathmatch to work right. When I load either one of them, it gets stuck on "parsing game info" and only has three bars of status. Any ideas what is going on. Thanks in advance!

I've had trouble logging into my Steam account in the past and when it would actually let me in, I couldn't load HL2 most of the time. According to Valve if Steam is not 100% up-to-date there will be problems, and even though Steam should do an auto-update on it's own, sometimes it just doesn't. I recommend reinstalling it and making sure it DOES update. If that doesn't work try here: http://support.steampowered.com/

I had the same problem and my game would just exit to my desktop. I found out that steam is incompatible with IE 7, so i uninstalled it and everything works fine now

Whoa what. I hope that is my problem too. IE7 has compatability with ANSYS 10 as well. Interesting. Thanks!

Well what do you know, it worked! That is a shame that IE7 doesn't work with Steam well. I kind of liked it. Oh well, I'll take Firefox anyday anyway.
