Introducing Steam Reviews

Yeah, damn, about time.
-
This is good news. I like that the review will show how long the reviewer played the game. I wish it also showed what hardware the person had, in case they complain it lagged, or ran great but others complain of stuttering, or what not. I also hope that when they do they average rating, that you can filter it by the latest patch. So we can see if the latest patch makes the game much better or not.

All game reviews should have this, including professional reviews. I never thought about this before, but this is an awesome little tidbit of information.
-
The problem is that Steam game time tracking is not always accurate. I should say it's rarely accurate.

In addition to an estimated play time, including the reviewer's hardware configuration is a brilliant idea.

Cool feature. I usually just buy my games based on the "Top lists" but I also understand that its a lot very little known games that could be just as amazing

Wonder how long the "thumb's down" button will last. I personally don't think the hardware config would be a good idea, it has to be stringently updated by the user (not going to happen with many) or it has to be an auto read from Steam on your hardware, who wants that intrusion. As time goes by and with the lack of user concern to update their config, it will become at best useless, at worst confusing.
Great to see this review section happening! -
Steam already reads your hardware. In fact you can find out which gpu cards are most popular. The answer is Intel, followed by Nvidia.

That's a random survey which only pops up occasionally on a new installation of Steam. Nobody is gonna reinstall Steam each time he upgrades his hardware. And of course you can always opt out of it. I've said it elsewhere and I'll say it here: The Steam Hardware and Software Survey is not accurately representative of the actual gaming hardware of Steam users.

It is random, it is monthly. But who cares what it is right now. The point is that they could collect this information, and display it as part of the review. Other stores display hardware information in the review, like the Android store does.
As for the accuracy, do you have data to back that statement up? Otherwise all surveys can be cheated, but if it is 99% accurate then that is good enough for me. I am not saying it is 99% accurate, as I have seen no actual data on this. Lastly, the survey method can always be changed to reduce cheating or misinformation. Either way, if the hardware info is part of the review, you can always ignore it. But if it is not there then you have no choice.
