Posted this in the Steam forums, but thought I'd try my luck here as it might be a more notebook-centric problem.

When running Windows via Boot Camp on my Mac, I like to set my power options to have the display dim, run the screensaver for a bit, then sleep. When Steam is running, my system will do this, but for no reason, the display will wake itself up, and the cycle will start over again.

Here are a couple strange things about this problem:

    1) If I leave the screensaver running and set the display to never sleep, it works just fine. The screensaver will run indefinitely.

    2) This issue only comes up when Steam is running. The client doesn't even have to be doing anything. If I exit Steam, the display sleeps as normal and stays that way until I wake it up.

Disabling display dimming and/or the screensaver and having it go straight to sleep doesn't help. I've also played with just about every conceivable combination of advanced Windows power settings and even tweaked about with the advanced settings for my Ethernet adapter (I use a wired connection), all to no avail. This is a properly annoying problem.

I don't necessarily mind keeping the screensaver running, but if there's some kind of workaround or fix I'm not aware of, I'd appreciate some guidance.
