I have the 64 bit os of win vista home prem. Is there 64bit versions of half life 2 and those games. I heard somewhere that you can download a 64bit version

Hum, never heard of such a thing.
I really doubt it. -
If there is a 64-bit version of a Valve game, it is already included with your download from Steam. Certain other games not from Valve may not come with the 64 bit exe file if you get them from Steam.
That said, even though there is a 64 bit version of HalfLife 2, I DO NOT recommend running it. It is fairly buggy, and there is no reason to run it instead of the 32 bit version, even when running in 64-bit Windows. The 32bit version performs better. -
okay guys according to this 64 bit version of hl2 is better and more smoother and its common sense that the 64 bit version can handle more data at a time thus making it faster. http://techgage.com/article/half-life_2_64-bit_-_reason_to_get_excited/
thats the article. Its also from mid 05 so more updates make it even better.
BTW can anyone name a list of games that are 64 bit on steam and i would like to know if a person actually tried some 64 bit games and compared it to 32 bit version.
MODERATOR can you change the topic to 64bit games vs. 32bit games?
thanks -
32-bit is plenty for it. -
Ya but for optimal peformance 64bit is the way to go. Espically since it came a long way since 2006. A lot more applications are supported.
BTW, they said that there were fps increases.
Iam gonna try out tf2 to see if its better because i notice when there was a lot of people in a game it would lag down allot. -
That would be your 2.0 GHz CPU sticking out, not 32-bit.
It has nothing to do with 64-bit not being good and everything to do with it just not making a performance difference. That's a 3 year old article you're referencing. -
Just my $0.02 -
Tellin ya dude, Source Engine was never optimized for 64-bit because Valve already knows very few of their users run 64-bit Windows. Might as well experience it yourself though.

The best I can do is try.
But for other games will 64bit be better if so how?
Steam games
