I still haven't tried it. Hopefully I like it though, I've been so disappointed with games lately.

STALKER CS sucked IMO... and i beat my friends copy of STALKER... I say go for it if you don't own it! (im actually tempted to buy it cuse its so cheap xD)

 

I remember playing the multiplayer beta. Its a really fun game. I want to get it but I'd never have time to play it =/

Steam is surely killing Gaming piracy...it has given enuff reason for people to not download pirated stuff and get the original thing.

This is exactly what I have been thinking now for some time, which is a really good thing.

BTW just bought Stalker, played it before but on a friends computer, hopefully i will enjoy it better than i did with a go7600

 

Not gonna lie I used to have a downloaded copy of STALKER but I bought it this weekend because the price was right and it was a good game. I mean one less latte pays for this thing.

 

yeah im downloading it too but MAN! This download is huge thank god i have cable i dont know how i could survive this download on DSL

finished downloading it and played its great........it doesnt support gamepad which kinda ticked me off because someone stole my logitech MX518 and touchpad gaming for shooters is a no no oh well i bought the game i can play it anytime i want. Lachesis here i come!

I'm thinking about purchasing my first game from Steam because of this.

 

.,.......i just said i lost my mouse, the gamepad was a second resort theres no way im playing this game with a touchpad...

 

lol, Razer was having some deals with mouses at circuity city, but i dont see them on the site now, might still be in store.

Also played this game for an hour and its very good, especially with the graphics completely maxed, 16xAA,16xAF, its looks really good.

 

yes it does look great maxed out this game has some amazing draw distance

hmm if that deal comes back let me know im looking for a red lachesis but i'm mostly finding blue / White

 

Games like this reiterate in my mind how very good graphics don't have to bring your system to a crawl. Runs great and looks fantastic.

 

Also there is a atmosphere tweak, it adds a more realistic look to the game.

Hopefully someone can help here with ideas, I cant get the game to work. I get the the blue circle that Vista is about to load it but nothing happens. In the taskbar I see it aking up 50% of the CPU but nothing ever happens. I have tried running in compatible mode for XP and 2000 with same result. I dont know what else to try. This is Vista 64 bit with 4 gigs of ram. Its on a Asus G50Vt. Any ideas will greatly be appretiated.

I don't know about the laptop but your desktop should run it fine.

The beauty about Steam is you can install the game on multiple computers as you just access your account and game via Steam. So if your laptop won't run the game just install Steam on your desktop.

I've gooten to like Steam myself. I bought Football Manager 2009 and installed it via Steam. Everything works great. And if you lose your internet connection you can still play the game offline.

 

STALKER is the first game that I've purchased via Steam. All my other Steam games (Orange Box) I opted to get the retail disks for them rather than purchasing directly from Steam. I have to say that the process went really smoothly and quickly. No problems (so far ).

 

I bought the game for $5 already, but I have a question for anyone that has played the multiplayer.

How is the multiplayer? Does it keep you playing after having finished the single-player campaign?

 

Sweet! Ive been wanting to pick up this game for awhile. Cant wait to give it a try, cause Fallout is taking up all my time!

I was just wondering, how long does it take to play through stalker? I say this I was rather disappointed at the short single player length of call of duty 4 and although the multiplayer is fantastic I felt a little ripped off.

 

I heard the single player campaign takes a long time, but I haven't played it yet because I just downloaded it!
