Ouch, just... ouch, but I feel good for those who need / want a refund and purchased GTA IV through Steam, way to go... Rockstar...
-
I'm glad I didn't buy that game. I'll most likely buy it when the issues get resolved.

Ha! Considering this is the first steam game I've heard of them doing this. It must be a HUGE middle finger to R*. I bet they got all sorts of people demanding their money back on the support and in the forums. Kinda funny this happening only a couple days after release..

meh. gtaIV is kinda like crysis but much grander. i mean its really next gen gaming. and AA patches need to come out and such. there support for hardware is only for the upper upper class.
-
Rockstar should have spent at least 3 more months ironing out the bugs in this release, I have all the other GTA PC games available, and even years after release most of them are still buggy as hell!
Or at least label this properly, GTA IV: Public Beta Edition.
That said, I'll probably buy it once they release a few patches and it hits a weekend deal. -
lol, rockstar really really must be crapping themselves right now, they deserve it tho..making a crappy port of one of the most anticipated games of 2008 =_=
-
This is going to be somewhat controversial but... we're all to blame. If no one bought crappy games like this one this would not happened.
Games like this one go through a lot of over-hyping and over-marketing that is already built under a brand BIG name like GTA, making a lot of people anxious for the game as an ever growing snow ball passing it onto to other people who now also desire it because other people desire it. Publisher rushes developer, developer may or may not care, does his best and puts the game "out there".
And there you have it, a recipe for failure. If we just wait a little more to buy it and do not go with the sheep hole flow, then we're contributing for this to not happen on such a regular basis.

Dont we just love steam ?
-
Really good game, really crappy port.
Oh and, seems like I love Valve more and more every day. First they sell games the right way, without a beastly DRM (even though Steam is some sort of quiet DRM) and now they refund games when deserved
).

I'd like to see what the usual "Steam sucks" people have to say about that

steam just got money from l4d and just lost some from GTA4
-
cancelled the order two weeks as I didn't have time to play after new year.... good thing that I cancelled... my main rig is using an ati 4850 card, heard ati support is really bad

But R* chose to finger us all and think that trading on the rep of their previous works and word of mouth about the console versions would suffice.
Don't get me wrong, the game is not as broken as many people say it is, well not that I've noticed, and even in low settings it looks great to compared to SA, but the fact that only top end systems will be able to run it in a decent range of settings is absurd.
Hopefully the refunds Steam gives out will dent the profits of R* on this game and they might just think again about the way they are doing business.
All games companies should.
It's just a shame there are so many "I'm loaded I'll buy it first just to prove I'm the one with the big cahonas around here" people... -
haha what a joke.

you are right ram steam could be making something like $5 for each GTA they sell but if they sell a valve game all those profits go in there pockets thats the reason they always have great deals on valve game packs.

i said some which isn't ALOT on a scale of one-ten some is two, few is three. so i keep my original statement. PS i didn't say ALOT so don't flame me

Though Steam still lets 3rd parties put DRM on their own games...*Cough*Farcry 2*cough*
