Can you play Steam games without updating? If you can, then don't bother, especially if you're running Vista as updating drivers of any kind will be a big hassle. Personally I despise Steam. My parrot could probably write a better program.

I dont install any of my steam games just to not deal with it....

I hate EA link just the same, but I unfortunatly like BF2142 too much and have to deal with it.

I have BF2142 and I think it's coded much worse than most games on Steam. Also, the excuse EA gives for not supporting widescreen resolutions---forcing me to play at non-native full screen resolution---is just plain retarded.

Steam is exactly that, a bunch of hot air. Don't pay it any mind.

I've done it to all of my non-native res games, but eventually I switch back because the stretched out look is horrible. You will not gain additional viewspace to compensate for the additional pixels (which is what EA wanted), which translates into an almost "fuzzy" display that gives you migraines after an hour. Thanks though.

Also, I've noticed something quite dumb in BF2142. I like the team aspect of it and all, but the fact is you have to join up with a clan to have fun in BF2142. Whenever I just randomly join by myself, I always 1) get a commander who can't tell the difference between friend and foe icons, and 2) get placed on the team that's been stacked against and missing players. And of course, all radio communications and requests for aid/resupply can and will be ignored throughout the entire course of the round.

    Alright [/rant] :D

Yeah, I have had STEAM occasionally tell me to update my graphics drivers but I just tell it to shut up because all my games run fine.

I hate steam full stop. Takes too many details for me to be comfortable with and doesnt add the right games. What a load of crap.

I don't mind steam at all its just that once you buy a game and you uninstall it or reinstall the OS or get a new computer you have to download all your games once again.

Edit. Never mind there is a backup feature in STEAM.
