When I have Steam open, even if it's just minimized in the taskbar (which it is most of the time), my computer will not idle into sleep mode no matter how long I leave it alone doing nothing. This is on Windows 7. I googled the issue and it seems that the Steam client is keeping my audio driver active even when I turn all the sounds off, and this is preventing automatic sleep from happening. I confirmed this with powercfg, and as soon as I fully close Steam, the audio driver is removed from the list of things keeping the PC active.

The solution for the moment is obviously to fully close Steam when I'm not playing a game, but I would prefer to just keep it running all the time and have it auto-start with Windows for convenience's sake.
