Free to Play games on Steam

Does anybody know if these expire eventually, or if they will continue to be free indefinitely? The last thing I wanna do is start playing some mmorpg and then have to pay to finish it.

EDIT: Ah, looks like they might be relying on in-game purchases according to the FAQ.

On a side note, anybody enjoy/try these?

They were free to begin with, now you can download it on Steam.

I played A.V.A back when it was in open beta.
Its a good "CoD4 meets F2P" game but i heard complaints about its jittery network system.

Best part of the game was the gamemode where you protect the tank on the way to the badguy HQ.

Well, Global Agenda used to be buy-to-play but they moved to a free-to-play mode recently. The major thing for that one is that they want you to buy the Elite Agent upgrade which is what the game was like before it became free. Basically free players earn half as much XP and I believe they don't get loot drops after matches. Another way they make money is by selling boosters which increase your XP rate and double your loot drops for X days.

It is a fun game, mostly it focuses on team PVP and group instanced dungeons. The first 15 or so levels you can play in the desert following quest lines in a WoW kind of way but after that it is mostly PVP and such.

I'm downloading Spiral Knights. It seems decent, and I want the promotional Soldier helmet for TF2 :p

Alien Swarm is not too bad, it was a bit buggy at times but fun to play. Definitely above par IMO for a free game.

Spiral Knights looks pretty interesting too, a co-op dungeon crawler?? So like a free version of torchlight I guess (maybe no gear/loot drops) but at any rate its free and looks fun so I am d/ling it now and maybe we can organize some co-op games if we find it to be worth playing. I like Sega games too generally.

Wow spiral nights is like a full fledged mmo, after you get done with the first mission your dropped into a training camp with dozens of other players.

So looks like it may play similar to PSO another of segas games (one that I really like) except its totally toned down to free game level.

Spirals nights:is surprsingly fun-sorta reminds me of zelda and its quite diffrent look compared to other mmo...need to find some people to play with

Forsaken World: sorta like a mix of world of wordcraft &aion
the customicaion was really good especially for a free mmo quite enjoyin

well i played the tutorial and first mission of spiral knight and it was pretty fun :) this game unlike alot of mmos works real well with my razer onza controller. the only thing i really need the mouse for is precise menu navigation.

I generally also like sega games too so maybe im a bit biased :p
oh on another note got my pso up and working fine or so it seems.

Forsaken World is a generic mmo with graphical bugs all over the place. Most mobs will die and teleport 5 feet away from you. The combat is nothing special and just follows what every other mmo has done before it. The quests are boring to do and read, and are silly things like collect a flower two feet from the quest giver. This game is a poor copy of Aion and WoW with much worse graphics and people that spam quite often in the general chat that they are looking for female strippers. Stay away from this game unless you love extremely generic poorly converted Asian mmos that are free.

I've been having fun with Spiral Knights. I already got the TF2 hat and I'm still playing, so hopefully that's an indication of how fun it is :)

If anyone is down hit me up on steam (falcon64z8) I played a lot of those free to play mmo. Like Champion Online, Global Agenda, and now recently just started playing Spiral Knights. I tried AVA and it pretty much a poor made COD/CS. Its fun for a bit but boring after awhile.

Also, anyone playing APB: Reloaded? Its free to play and really fun, hit me up if you do!

Spiral Knights I played just a bit before I left for the weekend. I get back today and catch up on email and see that the database was breached or something.

You cant edit your account details, log in, or create a new account.

Anybody else get this problem for sega pass?

Yeah Sega got hacked and around 1.3 million people got their passwords stolen. I believe those of us who used Steam logon are safe though.

That being said, Spiral Knights has pleasantly surprised me with how fun it is, perfect game to play for an hour or so at a time.

I've also tried Global Agenda which is entertaining, though it's more like TF2 than an MMO as others have said.

Champions Online couldn't get me out of the starter area, I really couldn't stand the cel-shaded graphics or animations. I found DCUO to be more fun and accessible, even with the horrendous UI at launch.

Edit: there is an option now, but it was not there when I started playing so it must have been added.

Agreed!! Spiral Knights does seem a bit different - I guess from what I've recently played. Let's see how it is past the tutorial.
