Or you can just subscribe to something like OnLive.

OnLive is of much lower quality than what kakashisensei is talking about.

I like the idea of streaming. One powerful computer someplace in the house, and then use a laptop with good battery life to roam around the house. I have enough computers, I may be able to do this without added cost. The Nvidia Shield does this and has sold well.

The added performance in SteamOS is intriging as well. I can't wait to see the benchmarks on this.

If you're INSIDE your house, why not go to the huge screen next door?

That is if you can stream somewhere else other than at home. Main reason I have a gaming laptop is so that I can game away from home.

It's a neat option for a big house with a few kids, though. Or a floor with students, that kind of thing. No need to hog the tv, can sit in the attic and play on your pad or ultrabook, stream content to the tv, having a virtual desktop on the next room, run compilations in the background. Lots of useful things that are being used more commonly now, that SteamOS would help atechnical people set up painlessly.

Was essentially this the ps3 was supposed to end up with, with the media-hub stuff, remote play, and all that - until nepotism, inbred monkeys and highly paid experts turned it into an advertisement platform for particular games that play better on.. any other platform than the ps3.

Or if my wife is watching something like Dancing with the Stars, and she wants me to spend time with her. I can game on the couch, without a loud fan going.

That's some quality time right there, hats off to you!

In other news, Steam Music Beta just started. Limited beta right now, they are actively soliciting feedback on how to build the music player inside SteamOS & Big Picture: Steam Community :: Group :: Steam Music

Limited to MP3 right now, but they have to support FLAC or gtfo.
