Notebookcheck has been around a long time and is an authoritative voice on these matters.

I can't get the site you're linking to load at all.

Your system driver probably does not recognize the M290x as the "R9 M290x", that's all. It needs to be updated.

It is basically an exact copy of the 8970M, but with a tiny boost in clock speed. In other words - it's an overclocked 8970M.

Maybe the sneaky system is using the IGP instead of the graphic card.
Maybe you are using too high settings.

Low framerate is becouse your CPU sucks, it bottlenecks the living crap out of that m290x.

First check to make sure dedicated card is activated. Switchable graphics sometimes don't detect the game properly and assign it to the integrated GPU. You will have to exit the game though, set the game to dedicated, and then load the game again.

Depending on which game though, the CPU may bottleneck it, but most games it should be sufficient.

Not by much. You bought a machine with a crap CPU (for gaming).
