I wanted to talk about and confirm some things Ive read on the notebooks using the mx150.
First, is the ~74 degree temp lock STILL in place on the ux430un and HP envy 13t? (not sure if the 720s has it)
If so, has there been any sort of workarounds for this? Software or hardware wise? It seems to me that there should be some way for this to be changed or removed. Although I am admittedly pretty ignorant to pc this stuff, if people can hack into the nsa, I figure someone should be able to unlock a bios(?) setting.
If its totally not possible to fix via software, where is the temp taken? Is it internal gpu/cpu thermometer? I found this thread, which seems to be someone fixing the exact issue in a different model, could we not replicate it?

Second, does "throttlestop" work at all to fix it?
Second, if there really is no fix, would it be better the get the normal mx150 and try to compete with the temp lock, or buy a notebook with the under clocked mx150 (720s) and try to squeeze more out of it?
We finally have an ultrabook that can game (somewhat), its so frustrating to be denied by something so simple. The person who fixes this would literally be famous, on the forums at least. Thanks

Follow @unclewebb advice to undervolt CPU too and uncheck BD PROCHOT which will reduce the triggering of Throttling alg based on tSkin temps using DPTF. -
Quick question do your HP Envy comes with HP coolsense? If so then thats the problem. It causes your laptop to throttle when it reaches temps around 70-80C when its on. You can disable or uninstall it and it should be fixed. Worst case scenario that its something in the BIOS set by HP causing it which i would suggest for you to return that laptop

buy the lenovo 720s....
basically the best laptop all around, no mx150 throttling issues -

Still no fix mx150 throttling (temp lock)? (ux430un, hp envy 13t, 720s, etc)
