What's going on guys? Haven't been on here in quite a while. Flying back and forth from Ventura, CA to Dallas, TX for work. (Working on a Pink Floyd Tribute album with collective musicians) Anyway, figured I would renew my AoC subscription, as I used to love it. Seeing if anyone is still playing.
And please, don't start in about Warhammer Online. Saw it, and didn't look interesting.

I cancelled... just nothing to do in endgame.
It really is too bad... the best MMORPG from 1-50 I have ever played.
It hurt a little when I cancelled, but it just wasn't worth my time or money anymore.
With all the nerfs, client goofups, and horrible game-breaking imbalances and bugs, I just got tired of it and went back to Lineage2.
Now to be fair, L2 has had 4 years of goofing up behind it, but has really put itself in gear. -
Have either of you played WoW
I can understand of becoming bored with WoW (I quit a few months ago) but coming back to AoC... -
Played WoW for quite a while. Good MMO, but the community, along with the actual content was just kind of lame. AoC really had that spark that I wanted in an MMO.
Good thing I was only a Lvl 21 when I left. By the time I get up to 50, new stuff may be added. Right now, I'm just downloading these insane patches! -
Conan is better by a country mile if you are mentally over the age of 13.
Don't get me wrong, WoW isn't a bad game really... but the people who play it are bad enough to make you want to go get snipped and never have to deal with a child ever again.
Conan's community isn't the best... but WoW is by FAR the worst unless you bring a guild with you and never turn on a public chat channel ever. -
Yeah WoW does have too many whiny 14 year olds. Just get a good guild, or get in with the "in" crowd on your server. Makes pvp/arena so much better.

My AoC sub expired on Sep 22 but I haven't bothered playing since early August. What a fiasco that game was/is. I'll give it a year and if I hear things have improved then maybe I'll get back into it. I'll stick with EVE for my mmo fix for now.
I'm more interested in this tribute album you're involved with....indie artists or 'main stream' performers? Do tell more! -
I never tried AoC, bu since they fired Gaute Godager which was the games Norwegian leader i think this game will go much better. Craig Morrison is the new leader and he plan to fix a lot of stuff.
-
Looks like from the Forums the game is improving as we speak. As for the album, it is mainstream artist's from the same record label I am signed with. I don't reveal my identity online, so I can't really give any information about it. These are other musicians on the Island Records label, though.

I joined the game about two weeks ago and play it an hour a day. So far it has been great. Very different from WoW and the community's maturity level definitely surpasses the one I experienced in WoW by a lot.
Its too bad there isn't much end-game for higher level players. Hopefully, by the time I get up there....there will something implemented. -
Signal, have fun with that! This is the third forum on the net to be trying to figure out who "KGann" is. Now, if only I knew who KGann was...
As far as AoC, already canceled it. 30 minutes was enough to realize this game was still riddled with bugs, along with the fact that there is no one playing. -
30 minutes? When you hit mid levels there's always people looking for instances. I had no problem finding a group for instances, and I was a HoX.
I loved the game but it was clearly released prematurely. I cancelled my subscription about a month ago. Had they waited and fine tuned everything this game could have been the best. It could get better over time. -
I am going to give Conan a bit then retry.
L2 is really working for me right now though. -

While I haven't bothered playing a MMORPG with vigor since the early release of the original Guild Wars, I find extremely hard to swallow that Funcom/Edio Interactive would charge their customers $14.99 monthly to play a game riddled with play-stopping bugs and instability issues.

You guys should try LOTRO (Lord of the Rings Online)
afaic best MMO out there... good endgame HUGE EXPANSION (Mines of Moria) about to hit, great leveling mature community...
just fun.
I played AoC for 3 days and then realized what absolute **** it was and uninstalled.. I also called that all the "fan boi's" who were like OMG AoC IS THE BEST! would quit and eventually realize they were wrong. AoC has a chance to go down as one of the worst MMO's / goof ups of all time, comparable to Hellgate London (even though I loved the Hell Gate london Story line and books) -
When the game first came out I loved it.. Even paid for the 6 month sub too. But then after a few patches, class changes, etc, etc, I gave up on the game. I had a level 73 assassin which I liked playing but I had no one really to play with. The server was pretty empty, the game was pretty glitchy, and the gameplay got kinda stale for me. Still have until December to play the game but I've had it uninstalled since beginning of Sept.
I got into WAR, which is pretty similar to WoW, but WAR is all PVP. Runs great, although the graphics are no where near what AoC was. But I seem to like the gameplay a lot. And the RVR sieges are pretty cool. -
Not to be confused with the LotRO fanbois...
"the best" MMO is dependant on the person.
LotRO might be ok for some... but I just couldn't bear to live in a world FULL of legolas wanna-bes...
That makes nearly anything better than LotRO for me. -
-
LOTR is no where ner the best MMO yes, the PVP is hopeless and it not complex enough for me
-
If anyone watches The Big Bang Theory (mediocre comedy series on CBS) the show covered mmo addiction in last night's episode and used Age of Conan as the catalyst. It was actually pretty funny and somewhat accurate in certain aspects of the storyline and game itself. Except different game graghics were used whenever the game was shown to the viewer. It looked bad.
-
Play at release, cancelled subscription before the "free" month ended. ~35 stygian ranger, was a semi fun game but with all the instancing crashing and lack of group play while leveling kinda sucked. With new management I may look back into it, but then again it may already be too late for AoC.
-
Well, the server my recent Lvl21 was on is dead. Empty. The "Set" server is full of people, but I would have to start all over. Guess I will, as I already paid for the month...
-
It definitely makes a difference what server you are playing on right now as a lot of them are pretty dead.
If you are going to re-sub the most populated servers are:
PvP-RP:
Cimmeria
PvP:
Tyranny
Deathwisper
PvE:
Set
Wiccana -
Only 5 servers that are populated enough to be fun? That is truly sad for such a new game.
-
I think there are some others with decent pops, but the ones I listed are the top five.
I am still having fun with the game and it seems like it has finally started to move in the right direction so I plan sticking with it for a while. -
Like I have said many times I enjoyed the game, but certain aspects made me return to WoW. I know there are social aspects of the game, and yes I prefer to level/farm/world pvp alone. But having readily available group play like WoW (despite the game having the worst MMO crowd ever) makes me not like AoC. It sucked when entering a zone while in group and not being put in the same instance of said zone as your group makes it a pain to move as a group. Plus pvp can be escaped by entering another zone instance making it hard to chase someone.
-
I have yet to run into any Legolas wanna be's... The community is to mature for that sorta stupidity, and the game itself is setup that you CAN'T pretend to be more powerful than named characters etc. It follows the lore quite well. I am sorry you have the impression people do that in LOTRO but its not the case (as I am sure it is in other games).
ps. its not instanced either like AoC which was the lamest thing ever.
-
I can also see the running to another zone to escape could be annoying at times, but the zones are rather large so it would only be an issue for people hanging out near the entry/exit points. -
Well, started a Mage in AoC, on a more populated server... actually having a good time. Might as well get my $15 out of it!
-
I do play it. It's really cool game and very dark
. and engine dynamics (fights, horse riding, running etc..) just very cool.
-
Warhammer Online, Age of Conan, World of Warcraft, Aion etc. are all good games that have their own negative points, I play them all.
Age of Conan is still good. -
Hmm, forgot I started this thread. I bailed on it after a few months. Great potential... just horrible follow-through.
-
Still play AoC a bunch, all my friends said stay away you'll hate it. But on some points I actually prefer it over WoW. Mainly the community and more "adult feel" I get from AoC.
-
I miss the good old Ultima Online from 1997-1999
-
-
Good game, but I was spending so much time on AoC and WoW that it wasn't worth the money to keep it going.
Still playing Age of Conan?
