Those specs came from one of the developers I believe.
They are taking a big risk in going all out DX10 on this one, personally I think it might backfire on them. Though perhaps they'll be able to leverage some decent performance from it as they designed it from the ground up rather than hastily patched on some DX10 code paths.
The console versions should do well though. -

I could see those as recommended, but minimum?
Any RTS that is launched as a console title probably isn't worth its salt being an RTS.
Based on what I've seen it looks like an action game with some RTS stuff, mainly commanding multiple units. I am trying to figure out what is making it require those steep system requirements. Doesn't look like there's tons of units or that they're doing anything out of the ordinary intelligent. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
That being said, it does look pretty cool and interesting. -
That said, those are extremely weird RAM requirements for Windows Vista. My Vista uses 1GB of RAM in and of itself -- it can probably be trimmed down to around six to seven hundred MB, but I have a hard time seeing it go lower than that. That leaves what, 300MB of RAM for the game to work with? I guess this is around what the consoles have. More evidence that they simply didn't bother to re-optimize for the PC. -
Good point. That is unfortunate. PC's need to make a quantum leap above consoles and drop price considerably to make them the preferred gaming hardware.

Neither of the consoles support DX10, or even SM4, and seeing as this is probably just a port based off the consoles doesn't make sense why it's DX10 only. I guess this will be the FIRST game that would show what kind of performance can be had out of a fully DX10 ONLY game. Even though because it's also on consoles we know the shaders were created with DX9 or OpenGL 2.1.
This actually looks stupid to me, I'm really hating all of these new console centric RTS games that have absolutely NO building or micro management, and it's 100% just moving a squad, or a few squads around and watching them execute attacks. It's REALLY boring to me. This new RTS style is just so boring imo that a 3 year old could beat them. -
