Stracraft 2 Running Issues

Hey guys

Recently my laptop has mysteriously started struggling when playing games and this has been the case with SC2. According to the games default I should be able to play on medium settings, but sometimes I get really bad lag even if I put the graphics on the lowest settings. It is becoming quite infuriating. Below are my specs and just to note my display drivers are up to date.

Basically what I want to know is whether this is something that can be addressed or is my laptop reaching the point where it can't keep pace with new games?

Your video card is considerably under the recommended spec of a 8800GTX/HD3870 (desktop). This game is pushing those of us with high end systems.

You could try overclocking the video card, and use Throttlestop to run Dual IDA on your CPU. That might help a bit.

In the end, if you want to play with higher settings, you will have to buy a new machine.

 

But 9600M GS should not lag on low settings. It's possible that there's another cause for this Sometimes it's the internet connection itself that causes lag if you're playing non-single player games.

 

otherwise there are/may still be some fps issues. If you leave the sound stuff on default, for some mysterious reason fps can at times randomly drop.


A fix is to just change speakers from default to what you have (stereo, 5.1, whatever) and sound output from default to what you have.

You might try reinstalling your drivers. The very low framerate you described seems like a driver issue. The 9600 should play medium settings ok. You might also check to make sure that PowerMizer isn't throttling or something.
