Perhaps you need to set your rates? Ask around on your CS server what your rates should be. Open up the console (using ~, must be enabled in the keyboard section of options) and type it in (for example, rate 30000, cl_updaterate 100, cl_cmdrate 100).

Could be your network of network card dropping in and out. I had this happening to me before on my desktop because of bad drivers. I have a MSI wireless card in there, so I played around with different drivers until I found one that didn't drop signal at all.

Hmmzz, you playing on wireless or lan? also are you running vista or XP and do you get the problem in any other games.

You can run a simple check on you connection by running the command ping router ip /t from the command prompt

in my case ping 192.168.1.1 /t and look for a high ping or timeout on a regular interval.

If you are running vista and wireless it could be vista searching for new wireless networks every minute, as this causes it to drop the connection for a split second, all my games played fine with the expection of battlefield 2142 were my character would do a little dance every minute lol.

If you're using wireless, try connecting, and then disable "Windows Zero wireless service" in the Services group. This usuall runs in the background and studers you're connection. You can always enable it manually when you need to connect :)

I used to have this exact same problem a couple years ago. I was running a decently build comp (way more than enough for CSS) and had a good cable internet connection. However, I was using a cheap wireless adapter and a cheap wireless router. I found that if I plugged straight into the cable the lag would go away, but if I ran off wireless I'd get a 2-3 second lag spike every few minutes.

My suggestion: upgrade your wireless card, or don't go wireless.
