lately, I want to oc my laptop fz290(8400m gt) in order to play Assassins Creed smoothly with med setting. Therefore, I dl the Rivaturner 2.07 and oc it.
Everyone who had used that software must know, I have to reboot in order to check the card. I did and it comes out at 450 core 600 mem after reboot at the turning setting.
I oc it to 525 and 650 respectively and open the system monitor provided by Rivaturner. It shows the core is something like 540 and the mem is 648.
Therefore, I turn it back to default setting, and see again. It is 478 and 602 at the monitor, but at the turning setting, it is right at the 450, so is there anyone know what wrong about it?

my driver is 167.43, and I have also try other softerware like Everest to check it. It shows 450 and 600, but why it is 478 and 602 at the Rivaturner monitor??

one more question is at the Rivaturner, My normal temperature is about 60C up, but at the Everest, it is about 58 to 59. Why have that difference??

    thank you everyone

Rivatuner reads the clocks of mobile cards incorrectly. Whatever settings you choose to apply are the speeds it is on. Your clocks are what they should be but rivatuner just reads them incorrectly.

Fluctuations in temperatures are normal. 1-2 degrees is nothing and can be affected by a host of different things such as room temp, different surfaces, what clocks its set on (if it has downclocked itself) etc. Nothing to worry about there.

    Thank you very much.

However, I mean I open two different software at the same time but the temperature is different..... one is 60C up and other one is 58C~~~
Which one I can trust ?? cause I am overclocking......

Ah I see. Thats unusual. I don't use everest at all so I don't know about its realiability. I use rivatuner and evga precision and they always read the same temperature. It has to do with the programming because your the temperature is only read from one sensor.

Isn't EVGA Precision (pretty cool app btw) just Rivatuner "reskinned" (can't think of a better way to say it right now)?

I was turned onto a pretty sweet app called GPU-Z (Like CPU-Z but with a G yo!, yes that was bad). It shows temps and clocks correctly. And a bunch of other info. Good stuff.
