After I ran it, theres a yellow line going through the right side of my screen from top to bottom. Restarting doesn't take it away, and its present in every operation (browser, desktop, games, etc). Obviously, its very annoying. I'm on a 8600M GT graphics card with the tweakforce extreme G 163.44 mobile drivers, if that helps. What is causing this? Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure it's so easy to decide what it caused. How old was the notebook when this problem happened? (Some hardware problems can "wait" some time - 1-2 days or 1-2 weeks - to appear, like pixel-problems on lcd's or transistors in the lcd's controller) Was it happened after 3DMark finished the test?
If you uninstall the whole driver, can you also see the yellow line (when the notebook uses the built-in driver in Windows on low resolution)? Can it be seen also after you reinstall the driver?
Is the line totally yellow or you seen in a yellow tone what there should be? (in this case the blue sub-pixel isn't responding due to hardware or driver error in the line)
If none of this helps, than it would be a good idea to test it on an external monitor. If the yellow line appears, than it's not the lcd's fault.

Just given some ideas I would test. If nothing helps it's a good idea to reinstall the whole Windows if you have time.

Completely yellow, appeared during 3DMark Testing. The computer is practically brand new Asus G1S-A1. I will try to reinstall the drivers later when I have time.

Well I uninstalled the drivers so it was just using the motherboard graphics adapter, and the yellow line was still there. Now I'm worried its the screen.

Go into BIOS, then safe mode. If still present, return it.

Is it present during bootup? As in can you see it like if you wanted to go into the bios or during windows loading? If not, it's not the screen, but something else.

If so, it's probably the screen.

Was the laptop particularly hot while running 3DMark. It seems unlikely, but it's possible the stress test overheated the GPU and something failed which would explain why the line is still there regardless of drivers. Findings these things is the point of stress testing anyways so if nothing else you saved yourself the hassle of it failing later after warranty is over.

The laptop was no hotter than normal. In fact, I had a deskfan blowing on it just in case. Also, it appeared as the first thing was loading, not during it. If it was the GPU in the card, wouldn't using the motherboard adapter clear the problem? It also appears during bootup. I'm almost certain its the screen, and my reseller will certainly be getting a call. This computer has been nothing but problems since I got it.

If the yellow line is still sitting there in safe mode with no GFX driver loaded, that rules out my initial assumption of a driver glitch.

It could be a fried GFX card, but I doubt it, as the rest of your screen isn't artifacting.

The screen cable could have been jiggled lose or burnt a little bit. Maybe the screen itself shorted or something. Either way, this is a defect that occured during normal (I.E. Non-Overclocking, submerging in water, etc.) usage. They are obligated to fix the issue.

    Hi BlackYoshi

you say in your earlier post that the machine has been nothing but problematic, maybe you have some bad ram, bad ram in the system or even the gpu ram, can cause that kind of effect, if you also have crashes and other failures then there is a fundamental problem with the system it may not just be the screen, if its brand new a replacement should be sought, and dont forget to let them know (nicely) that you need the machine for school, as they might have an express service.

    Good luck
dont forget Asus is generally really good kit.

I agree it's important, is the yellow line present during the boot?

I didn't really mean the machine in general, just issues in getting the laptop (originally a Compal IFL-90) and getting games to run (Bioshock still won't run for some reason, maybe a bad disc. 2K Games has been worthless on the matter, refusing to respond.)

I mentioned already that the yellow line is visible on boot. Whenever the screen is on, it is visible. I'm just pissed because I start classes in 5 days and now I will probably not have a laptop for a week.

If it's ready during boot I would take it to service. I'm not sure, but this can mean, that a transistor has gone bad in the lcd' controller or there is a contact fault, or even something is wrong in the card itself, but I'm not sure. This is just recommendation.
LCDs can go wrong after some use, (like a pixels on my desktop lcd after one week), but I don't think it's the 3DMark06's fault, I think it's just a random coincidence.
