I am shocked that they are releasing SF4 on July 1 rather than July 7 as from the information provided by gamespot. I am really eager to get my hands on it. Its my most awaited game. First, it was planned to be released with the consoles but they released after almost 4 months
. But, now I am happy

My controller is ready
From Custom Arcade Control Panel
Im going to try to play for fun this time.
Like mario kart wii, I started with the wii wheel and that was a lot of fun, then I got competitive and swiched to the nunchuck/wiimote combo and I got much better at the game and won almost every race but it was not as much fun anymore.
If I had just a bit more time on my hands and a better work area I would offer to build custom arcade sticks.
FYI SF4 arcade uses Japanese joysticks (Sanwa) but I used Happ in my build as they are super durable and what you find in 98% of American arcade games.
Edit: hey wait today is Jul 1?? where can I get it from today? lolLast edited by a moderator: May 7, 2015 -
That is awesome news and yea I been waiting for this game as well. Also how can you guys play fighting games with a 360 controller? Ps2/s3 is the way to go for fighting games and yea I just saw the new movie it wasn't as bad as people said it was. I have seen worst movies...
Edit: Do you have another source because Steam just launch their pre-order for SFIV and it comes out July 7. Also Amazon.com has it for july 7 and check out the forum on this pc version of the game, some people are hating on steam !?! -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
So is there a digital direct for this game like steam?
Edit looks like impulse has it, but they have Jul 7 as release date, as does every site I find, where did you hear/see Jul 1st? -

Steam will be releasing Street Fighter 4 on July 7 for $40. Right now, they have a 10% off pre-purchase sale if you want to buy it now for $36.

gotta love Street Fighter series.
I have so many arcade sticks in my room. -

I like my other sticks better... used to them more.
My favorites are:
- Super Pro Stick (by Mas Systems) ..... its pretty much the best IMO since its an exact replica of arcade hardware.
- X-Arcade Solo ..... its cheap and still works great with lifetime warranty. -

As far as the date is concerned, I have always found gamespot release date 100% accurate. -

They have the sticks they made just for this game, the best ones were the Madcats SF4 TE (tournament edition) sticks, but they only made a limited quantity and so now it will be very hard to find one.
But they still have the fight stick and the standard non TE joystick out there.
Also I am thinking about having a contest to give away this game. -
oooooooommmmmmmmmmgggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg

Some people forget there are a majority of us that lives in America in these forums. The American release date is July 7th but everyone else in the world gets theirs july 1st, ! Anyways this is now irrelevant since most of you guys already have to game and playing it now. I could get it at this very moment, but it is a process that we can't speak of... I might get the bundle that comes with a controller.

Well I got to play it a bit today,
Controller settings are a bit lacking, I was able to get my joysticks working since I can program the buttons to be any key, but if I did not have that optionn I would have been SOL.
Its strange it lets you set keys based on the PS2 keys, it never tells you what the keyboard key is, my joystick uses a keyboard encoder so thats why I need keyboard keys.
Also it detected my bluetooth dongle and keyboard as gaming devices but it didnt see my wireless 360 controller... but I didnt have it turned on so maybe that is why.
I am not going to use the controller anyways.
I beat the game with Ryu, took me forever to kill the boss, unlocked japanese voices and Sakura.
Tried to beat the game with Sakura and got all the way to the 2nd to last match and gave up, Ryu was tearing me a new one.
I like the game, though I am more a fan of the games like Marvel vs Capcom 2 or Tatsunoko vs Capcom.
High flying, big combos, big movies, air dashing... This SF4 style is hard for me with no super jumps, very limited combos, and its strange timing in combo's but I will get used to it.
They did a great job with the animated intro's for each character, the menu system, the online gameplay looks good, and a lot more. -

Vicious how was the online? Was there alot of people?
Im seriously considering picking this up for both 360 AND PC -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
I couldnt go online with it, wont be able to until the 7th when its out in the states, or rather it might but I am not trying until I get my copy off steam on the 7th.
But it looks highly integrated into online, you can even play arcade 1 player mode and have people randomly challenge you like you would if you were playing at the arcade (you can turn that feature off if you want) -
lol omg...i beat seth with ryu on medium took me forever, then ken took me over an hour just trying to beat overpowered stupid seth
then again i was playing on my keyboard.
After that i just went and played the rest of the chars on easiest mode and got to akuma, lol. -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Seth seems like he lets you win a around, not once did I fail to beat him one round, but after that when its round two he loves to do some cheap stuff.
I won with Ryu by jumping just in time to avoid his ultra and then got the jump/roundhouse combo in.
Then I tried with Sakura, but forget it I couldnt get past Ryu,
I just found out one thing that sucks, keyboard is one player only.
I built my dual player joystick with a keyboard encoder so the 2nd player cant use it.
I'll have to find a work around by using a program to take the keyboard commands and make them into controller commands, the only way I know to do this is ppjoy + glovepie thoughand ppjoy wont work in 64bit OS.

Has anyone tried the Official Street Fighter IV FightPad?
I bet this will work on the PC with the existing wireless USB adapter.
http://www.blueunplugged.com/p.aspx?p=137877#moreinfo -
gosh, all he does is teleport and use zangiefs grab over and over again as soon as you get up. Stupidly annoying. -
Seth is probably one of the most annoying bosses in any game I've played. He's just a power move spammer. The combo uppercut, tornado kick, and teleport. Even on very easy he's a pain in the gallbladder.

For controllers, I usually just use my trusty PS2 joystick, using a USB adapter. I managed to get a hold of a Street Fighter Anniversary stick a couple years back and I plan to get the most out of my investment. It's super bulky, but feels like home. Though I sometimes switch to a Saturn Virtua Stick using the same adapter.
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
To be honest though i never played SF4 yet(don't know how
) I always hear in reviews/discussion about this game that Seth is the cheapest thing ever. If some how he is cheaper then DOA bosses then wow that must really suck!
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Man I almost killed Seth on my 2nd try with Guile today. I suck with charge types like guile and I hate how they make you do his ultra, but even without knowing a single combo I got all the way to Seth in just 1 continue and he was 1 hit from dead on our 2nd match up.
Its hard for me to adjust from those high combo high flying games like MVC2 to the old school style of SF4 with just small combo's and a small amount of moves/movement.
That cooking wrestler guy is like on crack, he moves so freakin fast.
Anyways my 2 player arcade dream is not dead, I just remembered my multi console adapter works in windows as a gamepad.
So just ordered 2x 6ft USB cables from monoprice for $0.96 each, I'll have to hack up the cables and find the right pin out and add a RJ45 adapter onto the end of it so I can plug it in.
You can see what I am talking about here:
From Custom Arcade Control Panel
Also when they show up in Windows they have custom controller names
"This is my boom stick" is one of them, and the other was "Vicious's Instrument of Death"Last edited by a moderator: May 7, 2015 -

Oh man thats pretty sweet and its connected straight to the wii
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Yeah Wii/Gamecube with that cable.
I just used my Ipac for PC but now for SF4 I need to make the usb cable.
I could cheap out and use a A-->B usb cable since I already have a jack for it on the adapter but I want it to be modular.
Later in life I can even get a RJ45 toggle box and not have to change the cables. -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
How much do the toggle boxes normally cost?
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Edit - $8

Figured monoprice would have it and they do.
Same design and looks as the DB25 switch I got from them to control the output from my panel
4 Way
> I-PAC
> Dreamcast
> Multi Console
> Open
I guess later in life when I have more space I will attach one to the multi console but for now I can just plug/unplug the RJ45 cables since I am not even playing the Wii often. -
To sum it up: You wont win unless you pick a high tier team, if you are a capcom or sf fan, forget using characters you like in that game unless you want your arse to be handed to you
Sf games atleast are a bit more balanced but not quite fully.
Imo super smash bros. is much more balanced as a fighter because they use a %tage system rather than hp, probably the most balanced fighter game there is since even low tier characters can perform well based on skill of the player.
