I just got the PC version of SF IV. The game always crashes when I change any of these setting in the PC Settings options menu:
Antialiasing
Full Screen
Display V-synch
Frame Rate
Aspect Correction
All the other settings below that I can change just fine. Other than changing those the game runs fine. I would like to get higher frame rates but the game crashes during the above actions.
Anyone have the PC version with the same problem(s)? I know I have enough power to get around the 50-60 range; med settings. Whats hindering my gameplay is I cant turn off V-synch. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My specs:
Centrino 2 C2Duo T9400 @ 2.53ghz
ATI HD 3650 2056MB RAM
4GB DDR2 @ 800mhz

Not sure if ATI has an equivalent function in catalyst, but NVidia options allow you to force certain settings globally, or in different programs.
Try forcing your settings and see if that works (get it stable, then change one thing at a time so you can see what works and what doesn't.)
And I'm guessing you know enough to have already done this, but just in case, update your drivers and check for any patches. -

I think it is being GPU limited. Here are the ratings of the GPUS. Seems like it is mid-ranged card.

That shouldn't be related to a GPU limit. I can get the game to run on those settings (albeit crappily) without a crash on a 9400M G. A 9500M GE does a decent job until I try to enable AA.

If not GPU limited then some problem with the drivers.

I have the same GPU as his with a weaker CPU, the game runs fine for me at everything on high with no AA/AF and fixed fps (runs at around 60 fps) at 1280x800.
No V-synch either.
Try getting the latest ati drivers using mobility modder. -
Which OS are you using? I tried it on Vista with my above problems. I think it will greatly increase preformance if I can get that Vsync turned off before the game crashes.
I tried to install it on Win 7 but no go. Is there a trick to doing so? Anyway Ill try reinstalling on 7 again and let you guys know what came up. Thanks for all the incoming input. -

I'm on vista x64

Well I got it working on W7 but to no avail I have the same problem
It will crash whenever I try to change my original posts problems.
Anyone using ATI's Catalyst Control Center know if there is a master lockout to turn off all Vsync for all apps. I looked everywhere and didnt find one. Or is it worded differently?
Thanks for any incoming input. -
Not sure if it is a problem with the OS, the game crashes because you try to disable v-synch? I'm on an HD 3650 with a c2d 2.00 ghz processor. Seems like a weird problem, maybe you can try asking here
