If you are an oldschool gamer, you have probably heard about Streets of Rage, a beat 'em up game saga for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive.
An indie developer made a remake of this saga putting together all stages and presenting us with 19 playable characters, all completely for free!
You can download the game here.
Let me know what you think about it!
Cheers, Kindjal
Edit: The download links were down, so I updated it with an upload of my own.

Some of the best VG music comes from SoR II (Level 1-1 and Level 1-2 Bar). -
Awesome, will check it out!

Mmmm, SoR was a great game and all, but... why not just play a newer platformer? Like one of those Three Kingdoms games, or something. -

Too bad they didnt make it 3 players

I've put in a few hours, it's really well done for an independent work and the amount of time devoted to the project really shows. Almost complete recreations of the 3 original games' stages along with a homage to some of the deleted content that never made it into the Megadrive series.

anybody have any notable changes to the settings they made?
-
Purely from gameplay so far, I've noticed the following:
1. A few new enemies and at least one new boss.
2. Multiple routes to finish the game depending on which level you pick to start with.
3. Deleted content from BK3 now formally designed as stages (with variants)
4. Full roster of characters with BK3 special moves and game settings, older characters have also been upgraded with a full set of moves. Secret roster has characters that were never selectable in the original games.
5. Route changes are now clearly marked but time-specific.
6. Storyline closely models the SoR 1 and 2 originals with a nod to part of the SoR 3 storyline.
7. All stages playable in battle mode extra once unlocked.
8. Hidden 1-up bonuses are even located in the same areas as their original incarnations! -
For those who love SoR VG music, here's a few of my favourite remixes:

Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Sega took down the download links on their page due to legal issues.
Last year they tried to catch up with Sega legal department and in someway they had a partial agreement, but it seems that things arent gettin in their way.
So until further notice, and after 8 years of hard work, theyre nifty game seems to be destined to vanish. -
There are several 3rd party download links still active, however the upcoming patch may not see the light of day if Sega has its way.
-
Can't download it, file size is too big...
Loved all these kind of games, got most of them on emulators and even still have the cartidges for some, although I never get them out!
Golden Axe was a good one too. -
I absolutely agree with Golden Axe been great too. -
-
Whoa. Seriously? I hope the music is relatively unmolested too!
Thanks for sending this one our way -
Wow, I can't believe Sega is having an issue with a 15 year old game remake.
I'm going to have to safe keep the file. -
Music has been mostly remixed, but there's no way veteran players won't recognize the base tunes.
-
I liked that series but loved final fight better
Hagar, Cody and Guy FTW
