I'm having a stuttering problem with NBA 2K12 and I don't understand why. Especially considering more demanding games run smooth with high details such as Mass Effect 3.

What makes the problem stranger is this happens at the same time every time. 8 minutes of the first quarter run smooth, the next 3 run with stuttering and the final minute is smooth again. This repeats every quarter, every game. I've ran the game with low details to high, same problem. I have vsync on and triple buffering because the screen tearing is terrible in this game. I've tried turning the AA off in game and forcing the Nvidia CP to force run them and the issue still happens. Also tried turning vsync off in the game and running through the CP, same results. Tried tinkering with the maximum pre-rendered maximum frames but the issue still happens.

Much lower end machines run this game in high with no issues so not sure what is causing this. Does my card not want to play nice with this game? Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the full system specs:

    MSI GT683DX-840US

    Intel Core i7 - 2670QM(2.20GHz)- 6MB L3 Cache
    12GB DDR3
    GTX 570M

NBA 2k12 is not GPU intensive. It might be the CPU. Maybe you have throttling issues. :)

Have a read at this. Maybe it'll help.

Any time 2k12 stutters its because of a couple reasons - 1. Something is installing in the BG or 2. My PSU is slowly unplugging

Besides those two causes I really don't know what would be causing that. Like what doombug said, 2k12 isn't GPU intensive in any way
