Hi, I was rummaging around my computer and I noticed this "ATI Profile" thing. Obviously this is some sort of settings to optimize your system settings for a game, but I don't really know how to use it.

Could somebody suggest a profile for World of Warcraft based on my hardware specs below?

(Also, if I'm way off on this subject, please enlighten me :p )

Check out the thread "ATI Overclocking" - good information about ATI Tray in there. It mainly pertains to the X700, but there was a poster who had an X600 and was doing some overclocking.

I don't think he wants to overclock.

Just run WoW at the native res of your screen with pretty much everything maxed out in the game. In the ATI panel you can turn on 8x or 16x AF as that really makes WoW look better and doesn't really hurt your fps.

if you want wow to run smoothly think about having 2gb of ram. You can have the best vid card for wow but it would probably still lag without the extra ram. I have 1gb on my desktop with a 6600gt and it lags in orgri and if lol. WOW eats up half of my ram.

I dont agree at all. I play WOW and I have 1 GB, I couldnt ask for more smoother gameplay. As we know the price difference in between 1-2Gigs is insane. I wouldnt recommend upgrading to 2, pretty much no games need that much RAM. Its not the Ram thats slowing down your gameplay man its your 6600. You should think about upgrading to maybe like a 6800, 256mb, or maybe a X800 or so. If you want top of the line, go with a 7200, 512 mb. Thats the stuff.

More games than you think will use more than 1GB.

I has 1GB initially, but running at the high settings my laptop is capable of, the hard drive was being accessed frequently due to the fact that Windows had to use the Page File for memory.

Upgraded to 2GB, never been better.

Games I saw were noticably smoother:
Doom 3, Quake 4, Battlefield 2 (especially), FEAR, Call of Duty 2.

Actually, I am more concerned with improving my framerate than anything else. I don't want to completely have to turn off all of the details on the game, but I thought that my system would be able to handle it better than it does sometimes...

I've messed around with the graphics settings in the game, but haven't been able to find a good balance (I'm willing to take suggestions there too), so I thought I'd see if I could tweak my drivers and display settings and stuff to try to milk a little more performance out of it.

I've messed around with the Omega drivers a bit (have them installed currently) if that changes what anybody has to say.

    Thanks guys.
