1.7 MBps is nice.
Anyway, played through the demo campaign. Graphically, there are definitely some improvements, yet the units looks more... cartoonish. Colorful, for one, and some units don't seem to have had a lot of detail put into them. I didn't really spend much of my time zoomed up close though.
There's also a lot more dialogue going on, and while at some times it's clever, other times it's... trying too hard. ("Guys like me eat guys like you for breakfast." "I can take you in or I can take you out".)
Gameplay isn't changed much. I might be wrong, but it looks like you can't do deficits in your recources anymore. If you go over your income limit it looks you you can't build units.
Eh, I'll play it again some time later, this time paying attention to review-ish things and not focusing on curbstomping a computer.
Oh, experimentals seem a lot nerfed now. On the other hand, they're a lot easier to build. -
Hmmm, doesn't sound so good... I heard they were "simplifying' it for running on consoles. Don't know if this is true, praying it isn't. I also hope they haven't scaled down the scope of the game.
Will d/l when I get a chance tonight. Looking forward to it. TA/Supcom are easily the best RTS's out there. -
Oh a test for my i7, may try it out

Annon 1404 is the most taxing game I've encountered so far. But I'll give this a try.

Thanks, downloading now

I will test this one out on my laptop later, nice find. If I even sniff anything dumbed down or consolised this one is going in the bin.

Will have to give it more of a go but not happy with the way the resources are handled, should have stayed truer to supcom 1.

got this downloaded last night, planning on giving it a run when I get home from work....this job is really getting in the way of more important things.

Been playing the full version. I've really only played an easy match against the computer just so I could get a feel of the tech, but, in terms of system requirements, gameplay, and (in-universe) technology, Supreme Commander 2 is almost like Supreme Commander Lite.
Good game, don't get me wrong, but it's a lot different.
There are much fewer units now. For example, there used to be Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 anti-air fighter units. Now the UED only has one anti-air fighter, which can be upgraded with research points. Gone are the next-best-thing-to-experimental Tier 3 heavy/siege/sniper walkers. We're not going to be seeing a dozen Titans and Percivals going to brawls against five times their number of Tier 2 and Tier 1 tanks. Keeps it simpler and makes the games faster, I guess. I'm going to miss those Percivals.
There are a boatload of Experimental Tier units, though, which are apparently divided into weak and strong experimentals. The UED Fatboy II is a weak experimental, and while it can own bunches of lesser units, it has nowhere near the staying power of the original Fatboy. (Fatboy II also had its built-in factory ripped out). The UED King Kriptor, on the other hand, is a Galactic Colussus wannabe, and can take ridiculouse amounts of damage before keeling over.
Most experimentals aren't built on the field by ACUs, SCUs, or engineers anymore. Rather, the ACU or engineer (no more SCUs, sadly) will build an experimental production facility, which then produces the experimental.
Going to try out some Cybran. BRB. -

I'm honestly not sure. On one hand, it sure cuts down on the frustration when that Tier 3 factory that've I've been shepherding along gets STRATEGIC LAUNCH DETECTED into nuclear ash and I have to start from scratch. Now I just have to build the factory from base and I have full access to all units again. Also with the tiers cut, units that are open from the beginning remain relevant throughout the game. You won't be sending your Pillars and Mech Marines on suicidal forays into the enemy base since you know they can't match Bricks and Loyalists on the field.
On the other hand, it's too easy for the opponents to be evenly matched over a long period of time. Like I mentioned above, you can really hurt your opponent by targeting his high-tier facilities and leaving him with weak units. But now, if you destroy his factories, your opponent can just build a new one and continue to send powerful units your way. Plus, I miss the epic armies of Tier 3 units.
So, in short, I would have liked a mix. Maybe a tech tree, but the factories still have to be upgraded at least once.
Speaking of factories, they can be upgraded to have personal shields, AAA, ground defense, and tactical missile launchers. -
To me, the FA is far superior to this sequel. The original is more of a simulation, while this one is more of an arcade game.

I reckon people will still be using the 1st game as a classic hardware benchmark much more than the current iteration from the reviews.
