I see that Supreme Commander is on sale this week at Best Buy for $19.99
and I have seen mostly positive reviews on the game.
I enjoy most RTS games like Dawn of war (my favorite), Company of Heroes and C&C series, but sometimes find myself overwhelmed since I haven't always been a long time RTS player. I have probably only started playing within the past year or two.
Is this game a bit too ovewhelming for the casual RTS player? I hear there is a lot of resource/unit management beyond the standard RTS and generally favorable to play for seasoned RTS players.
Any thoughts?

I would say its a little overwhelming
I've only played it(not really gone into it) on my desktop (2.4ghz c2d, 2gb ram, 7950gt ko) and it lags a little on med settings at a resolution i'm not sure of (larger than 1024x800 less than 1400 x 1050).
The game is a little complex in that you really need to manage huge armies and continually build these armies across massive maps.
It seems like a game that people only with interest in it, would really enjoy.
I am biased and ignorant since I don't really like the game. You would probably get a better response from someone else. -
High learning curve compared to more traditional RTS games like Starcraft, C&C series and Warcraft series. If you've played Total Annihilation before it's easier to pick up.
Supreme Commander suitable for casual RTS players?
