ahhh never mind. actual demo
-
I wish I could DL this but my school's internet is way to slow.. it would take along the lines of days...
-
I might have a look later.
I thought the game looked pretty good when there were first rumours of it a while back. -
I really couldn't be bothered. Don't know what all the fuss is about! I might give it a go, but while everyone else was wetting their pants over the screenshots I was just thinking...so what?
-
Isn't this the game that uses multiple monitors???
-
You probably can but I haven't seen it as a requirement. It's basically an updated version of Total Annihilation with the same macro management style instead of the current popular micro management style. Lots of units on a huge map duking it out on larger fronts all over the place.
I'm looking forward to it immensely and hope they drummed the bugs out of it. -

looks cool, im downloading it.

I'm a micro fan. C&C3 all the way!
(and Red alert and starcraft and warcraft all the way!) -
I'm just praying my G1 can handle it and lord knows I'm uncertain with the amount of units on screen and the detail on each unit. You'll probably need a top of the line desktop to really play the game in it's full glory but I could be wrong.

I've got the 3.8 beta also... and it runs pretty good on my laptop (see below).
Although i had some slowdown this morn after running it for like 3-4 hours and forgetting to turn up my fan speed.
I'm liking it. Was a fan of TA back in the day. so far it's more yummy mech-on-mech action. -
I should be getting my Acer today with Integrated Radeon Xpress 1100 integrated. Just for kicks and giggles, I want to see how badly it runs.
And according to the PC Gamer review, it'll make single core processors cry. -
It has a storyline that hints of Total Annihilation, but the game is pretty **** awesome. You're thinking so what, but until you play it you won't know it. =D
I just can't wait to co-op the missions with friends. xD -
Hi guys, like you I am expecting alot from this game and after playing the demo for awhile, I must say I feel dissapointed. Because:
-The game requirement is too high, my Laptop can barely run it at medium setting at the default resolution (1280X800), I turn off Vertical sync, Low on shadow, the rest are medium and it still "feel" slow. When I zoom out I feel slow.
-The unit are not very responsive, they do not move right away after you click a destination but after a "small lag". This make the whole game feel slow. Maybe because my laptop is "weak" but I dont think so.
-The screen, 1/3 of the screen is the side bar, you have too little space to see the battle. So you have to zoom out and dont see the units in detail.
The good thing is that the game mechanic work very much like Total Annihilation, which is good.
I know this is only the demo but I still feel the game need more time, for tunning, bug fix and some thing else.
This is a great game, from a great developer, so it suppose it be great and I sure really hope it will be.
These are my opinion, if you have play the demo please share your opinion with me.
Have a nice day -
I can barely run it on 1028 x 768, x1400.
And the graphics aren't even that good to start with! Optimize the engine ffs! -
It really makes me nervous because it could probably be made to run amazingly well but I have a bad feeling it's going to feel half completed when it's released instead of making it work well from the get go. So many games rely on updates and hotfixes it's ridiculous to even buy a new game before the first two or three major updates. I miss being able to buy a game and play it without having to search for some critical update just to make it work well...
-
it runs just fine on my
core duo @ 1.73 ghz
1 gb ram
7900 gs
with resolution @ 1920 x 1200
and most settings on high
how can you guys be running it so bad ? -
Dude, you got a 7900 GS, it is one of the top GPU out there.
But,do you not feel about how the unit responde, I think it the game engine or maybe that just me.
This game may just be the new system hog after Neverwinter Night 2.
I just pray that they will recheck the whole game but that may not happen for the game will be released on 20 Feb, just another week. So sad T_T -
Just an FYI...
The March issue of PC Gamer has the full review of Supreme commander and it has hardware guide on what you need to setup you PC to run this game. It doesn't say anything on running this game on a laptop but it pretty much gives you the lowdown on what hardware you need to run it. -
I´m actually pretty dissapointed in some ways. From the demo it looks like the campaign is going to be really crappy. But i bet the multiplayer will be sweet. Im also surprised how bad the AI is. And whats this fascination with graphics in the gaming industry, who needs those little cut scenes from actual in-game graphics in an RTS. I dont! And the interface is soo crap, bet its designeed for dual monitors....
-
if it is, so be it, I have my laptop with external moniter. actualy just DL'd TA, I bought it way back when, but lost the cd's. its still fun to play

wow, the AI has been really scaled back from the beta. I could not even beat the beta AI on easy if I wasn't on a large map. I played the demo on medium last night and walked away unscathed. major frame rate jump from the beta too. 20-50FPS on orgional settings depending on your zoom level. drops to about 9-13 when in dual screen mode but thats quite playable.
-
I know this is stupid question but I need to know, has anyone play SupCom on a laptop with GMA?
-
I downloaded the demo and have been playing it for a bit. Pretty fun stuff, never played a game like that before. The graphics are interesting too. They look like a cross between cell shading and regular graphics. Anyway, I took some screenshots playing on my desktop at the absolute highest settings, looks pretty good, but nothing phenomenal. It does seems pretty demanding though as my frame rates will drop into the low 30s, and my rig heats up like crazy! Anyway, here are some shots just for kicks. I also do feel the lag between clicking a unit and then having them movie, very annoying!
I have a bunch more but I am having issues getting them posted. I'll see if I can get some more up later if anyone is interested.
-
I'm enjoying the game. It is very similar to TA. Has anyone figured out how to make the commander build tech 2 and tech 3 structures yet?
I'm on the fence about buying it though. I'm not a big fan of playing RTS' online and I may have gotten my fill with Company of Heroes. -
kierkegaard-
You have to upgrade your commander. Click your commander and then click the little GEAR icon to the left of the build options.
you get options to upgrade either arm or add modules to the back of your commander.
JimmyME-
As andrew mentioned, The AI in the demo is a lot simpler than in the beta, and than it will be in the full version. the demo has one level of AI. the beta had 6 different AI types; including Easy, Rush, Turtle, Balanced and others. -

try this link. havent tried it yet but it should work.

should let you import other maps for skimrish games. -
-
I have try this game at 1280x800 and at low setting,
The game run very smooth, this is when I feel the game truly good but the graphic are so bad. Aside from the units which is not too bad, the terrain just so bad, ugly. After setting it to medium, it geting lag when zoom out and units dont responde well.
Now I wonder if I should get this game, and I just got this laptop for this game too, it can run Company of Heroes so well yet for this game, sigh T_T -
I have been playing this demo on my PC with the setting set to medium yet I do get some lag when there are over 150 units on the screen. I can't imagen what type of lag anyone would get on a mid size laptop or lower. I guess you would have to bring the setting all the way down to below Low just to have the massive battles on your screen. Here is my rig spec:
Athlon 3500+ Clawhammer
2GB corsair DDR400 Dual Channel
200GB HD SATA
7600 GT 256MB
I was planning on buy a Dual Core 2 laptop with a 7400 card from HP but I would like to know if anyone has played this demo on this type of laptop? -
Mine is 7600 512MB and as I said above, not too good at medium
I think you should wait for it to come out, then someone with test it and confirm if the game can be played and played good on 7400
As for the demo I think you can play it, but it wont feel good. -
-
Ok, after playing for sometime I notice that:
The fidelity option made the game run slow, very slow
I set everything on medium and fidelity on low, the game run smooth, units look ok and terrain look ok (on 2nd stage on campain), no AA and V-sync
I set fidelity to medium and it run so low, and lot of lag
I set fidelity to low, everything to max, shadow on low, no AA or V-sync. The game run ok, semi smooth.
What do you think about this fidelity option?
Supreme commander demo!!!
