I have an XPS2 and I have the SPDIF output. I'd like to plug this into my JVC home theater receiver and play my games in surround sound just like movies play. However, the SPDIF only outputs sound when I'm playing DVD's. How do I force it to output sound while in games?

why not just buy an adapter to go from the headphone jack to your home theater reciever thats what I do on my 9300.

    hope this helped...

Try clicking "only use digital output" or something like that in the windows speaker settings... don't know if it'll help, but i imagine it might

    Thanks.

Yes, I do have a headphone/mini to stereo cable to connect to my receiver. That way works but is not quite as accessible due to the design of my system.

Where do I find this "only use digital output" option? I don't see that in my Sounds and Audio Device Properties window. That sounds like what I'm looking for though. :)
