I have a Viewsonic p220f series CRT monitor which quite frankly is STILL awesome compared to whats out there and is about 5 years old. They just don't make them like that anymore...

In any event, either I'm having some power fluctuations with my apartments wiring, or the monitor is starting to go because the screen wobbles now.

Based on that I've decided it might be time to upgrade to a new LCD. I've decided I want 120hz and definitely need 2ms response time as I play a lot of Bad Company 2. I also would like to be able to easily switch between my desktop which I use for media and my Alienware m17x which I use for gaming--both would use DVI (although I have a VGA converter for the desktop).

I've read reviews of the Acer GD235HZ and it seems like the best performer out there right now (despite lack of mobility with the stand) and has multiple inputs. Is there anything that tops this in terms of quality and gaming performance? For example, I've seen comments say the contrast is not as great as Samsung...

Again, current monitor is 5+ years old so I haven't purchased a monitor in quite some time and have no idea what I'm looking for nowadays in a gaming monitor. Any guidance on this would be much appreciated.

Also, can anybody confirm that 3D works (once I have glasses of course) with nvidia's 260m cards?

3d does work as long you have the kit and a screen that supports it...but imo looking at nvidia's 3d image for more then 5 minutes gives me a migraine
