I remember Syberia 1 had some issues in XP, despite coming out in 2001 (I think) and had to be run in 98 compatability mode. Does Syberia 2 have any issues with modern versions of Windows as well, or does it work fine natively in Windows 7?

No problems, both games ran fine on Windows 7 when I played them. Didn't experience any issues.
Just make sure you update both games to latest versions.

Game's working fine so far apart from one glitch - in Hans's room at the monastery, after the candle scene, the character textures for both Kate and Hans disappear and just black models remain. Happens every time I go into that room subsequently.
