Hi. I apologize if this was asked before.
I've just installed ss2 on my laptop (specs in sig), patched it up and it runs fine, except for when I try to save. Sometimes it works, but it usually crashes. After it crashes, all saves seem corrupted, since it does the same if I try to load any of them.
Setting it to compatibility mode (win98) only makes the problem worse: the menus run fine, but when I try to start a game it just locks up.
I'm running Win7 X86. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

well for starters, older games don't like to be installed into your program files directory.
put it somewhere else.
for finishers: DDFix and Enhanced Resolution Patch (including widescreen support)
if you didn't use ddfix, set that up.
also might not hurt to look through here: How To Run System Shock 2 on Windows XP/2000
(even though that's more for windows xp and 2000) -

there's also this issue where systemshock 2 may not be able to create the folder the saved games go into
System Shock 2 crashes everytime I try to save.
so then it crashes.
