Hey guys, I've had this problem for a little while now. During some video games, my computer would just instantly turn off, then reboot, giving a 'system failed to shut down properly, start in safe mode?' prompt at startup.

This has happened rather rarely for Half life 2 and Black and White 2, and continuously for a level in UT3, making it impossible to progress. All other games have not had problems. I'm wondering how I can diagnose and fix this problem. This bug occurred when I used 174.31 driver, and 175.12 has not fixed it. Thanks.

Are you overclocking? Is your system getting too hot?

Maybe OC, or just a bad driver.
Try monitoring your temp during those games, and if it gets too hot, then put it in the freezer for an hour or two. *jk* :p

But really, try updating your driver, might help in some cases. If it doesn't, go to windows event viewer, view the error report right before the crash, and search online for the possible fix with the specific error code x0 generated in the report.

How long have you had the system? If it is older than 6 months than it is possible the vents are full of dust and the system is overheating. You might want to blow some compressed air into the vents and see if anything comes out.

No I don't think it's a heat issue, I idle at 55 degrees, and peak at around 70 degrees. I run a light overclock of around 15%. So I should try updating all the drivers? And if it crashes again, look in the event viewer? Where would the report be in event viewer, I see a bunch of tabs. Thanks.

Try disabling the overclock and playing some games, see if you get the same problem. You could try updating the drivers, but if they were working before, it would be odd for them to suddenly start causing errors if no changes were made.

I think it's a virus called crashing and rebooting. it crashes and reboots systems for 2 weeks then the computer will start to smoke for 30 seconds which leaves you time to run for your life because it will blow up.
