    Nvidia quadro fx 570m, never did a test with stock drivers first test done with the bioshock drivers 163.44 no overclock. Windows vista, not a complete reinstall but i did a factory restore and removed a lot of the bloatware.

    First of all just curious why you considered Vostro 1500 "piece of junk"?

    Took me one exchange due to a POS display, but now it rocks!

    Quadro FX 570M is like an 8600m GT GDDR3 right? At least your 3DMark score indicates as such if at stock clocks. My O/C'd 1500 can score slightly more than that at 4000 3DMarks.

    Quadro is nice but it's not meant for gaming, that's why it's not a Geforce, it's a Quadro... designed for CAD and 3D programs, but then again some people use Windows 2003 Server for gaming over XP.

    I haven't checked benchmarks Quadro FX 570m vs GF 8600m GT ddr3 but I am pretty positive Geforce will rock quadro in games.

    Hmm...I don't know about that, and I am pretty sure it won't "rock" it. ;) They are the same exact core, and you can install gaming drivers on the 570m if you want, so I would expect performance to be similar. I don't know without seeing benchmarks though. :rolleyes:

    The vostro 1500 came with a bad graphics card that wouldn't even let me boot into windows. The other problem was the memory slot was messed up, the ram worked in other computers but not in the vostro, and i'm 100% sure it wasn't the ram because i use it in my t61p.

    What Imark said is true 570m is nothing but another name for the 8600mgt same specs same features down to every single chip. Only difference is the name and stock drivers.

    While we are talking about drivers, which ones are capable of being overclocked. 163.44 wont overclock.

    Temperature spiked at 71c clocks are 752 memory and 600 mhz 158.45 driver, going to try the highest clocks for the 8600m gt next.

    Well this seems like the most stable for now 632 mhz 830 memory temps maxed at 72c.

    If you lower the core back down, are you able to push the memory any higher than that?

    What I was asking was, if you keep the core at stock clocks (or at least lower than your current OC), how high can the memory clock speed be pushed?

    570m = 8600M GT
    1600m = 8700M GT.

    The same piece of hardware except for the bios.
    The difference between them is 100 marks in 3d mark 06...

    Actually guys, the hardware is not the same. It used to be true that the only difference between quadro cards and geforce cards was the bios and dev_id on the firmware, however that is no longer true. All of the newer generations of Geforce card's have certain types of hardware acceleration hard disabled on the chip itself. However, it is true that the Quadro cards have all of the hardware features of the Geforce cards (and more), so with equivalent clock speeds and drivers they will perform equivalently.

    no i'm only running tpfancontrol at max, it only reads my gpu at 72c max but i think it might be off. Its that or the 570m can't be pushed any further.

    Is it safe?

    PS: Can't get TPfancontrol to work on Vista. You think i'll be okay overclocking w/o that or a cooler?

    >.> tpfancontrol works fine with vista basic. You sure you configured it right?
    I'm still testing for how stable those clocks are. So far all seems good but I'm just starting game testing.

    ps: if you have no way to cool your notebook I would seriously avoid overclocking as much as i have. You might be able to get away with very little overclocking but i wouldn't push it at all.

    Hey bwhxeon, great posts.. nice overclock on the 570M. I just ordered the same laptop that you have ( T61p ). Was checking out forums while I wait for it, I want to have full functionality of the video card that it comes with ( Qaudro FX570M 256 MB ). Been reading that I have to use another driver instead, do you know which drivers I have to use for best performance on games and openGL. I am assuming one of the GeForce drivers but which one specifically? Is there any special tricks to install the drivers or basically just run it, maybe you can lead me in the right direction? I have searched for answers to this many times with no luck.
    Thank you in advance..

    For gaming, I recommend you use the most recent modded drivers from LaptopVideo2Go, like the 163.xx or the 167.xx. For workstation apps, I recommend you use one of the WHQL mobile releases like the 156.73.

    Yeah, that's a problem with the latest drivers. Have you tried Rivatuner?
