my T61p with quadro fx570m which i changed the drivers to Geforce 8600 following another thread here and i am still at 60fps? i will be moving into University in september and i knwo i am going to game but a 256Gddr3 graphic i can't possiblily be getting 60fps, my 512Gddr2 desktop gets 100fps in CS 1.6 and i have changed the settings already too on the laptopa. fps_max 101
cl_updaterate 101
rate 25000
net_graph2 to check my fps
here are my settings
Renderer - OpenGL
Display Mode- widescreen
Resolution - 1600 x 1000
color quality- highest 32bit
also, if the Geforce drivers don't make preformace alot better than i think i will go back to quadro drivers becuase i heard that the Geforce drivers will heat up the laptop more. i played 3 hours of AOE 3 at my friends house on lan on high performace and the top left of my laptop was burning hot literally and people have always said IBMs had a really good at cooling? but mine gets extremely HOT

Sounds like vsync might be locking you up at 60 fps. Try turning it off and see if that helps.
-
vsync as in vertical sync or does vsync stand for something else?
thank you very much, i turned off vertical sync and now im running at 100fps. but everything is very dark now as to before vsync was turned off? -
Yup. vsync = vertical sync.
Not sure why everything went dark for you though. Which version drivers are you using? -
Why does it matter? Can you tell the difference between 60fps and 100fps?
-
100 fps is necessary in order to shoot any automatic weapon at their maximum speed. EX: 100 fps = 30 bullets from an m4 in 3 seconds, 60 fps with the same gun = 30 bullets in 5-7 seconds.

might wanna run hwmonitor or a similar program that tells the temperature of your hardware -
Turn vsync off and set fps_max to 101 in game.
-
i wonder how people even get kills in Crysis if the kills is based on FPS. 30 bullets in 25 FPS = 1 bullet per hour?

T61p 60fps in counter-strike 1.6?
