A large update to TF2 was just released. What to you guys think about it? Because of the Engineer updates, there are tons of people playing as engys now. The level 3 teleporters and dispensers are pretty ridiculous. I personally like the new medic icons, they're pretty useful.
Release Notes:
-
cool, I haven't played TF2 in months, this gives me a reason to go back and play some more.
-
Holy crap, that was a surprise. No one expected an update till next year.
-
Yea, there are no new achievements but the updates sure hint at an update to the achievements coming soon
-
just noticed this update also, i am happily suprised
i love this game but i have been not playing so much after the heavy weapons update wore out.
hopefully a bigger update is in the works now -
Looks like these are just some general additions to the game. According to the recent blog the Scout will be the next to receive the update treatment as well as giving 360 users the past updates.
-
Nice, especially for spies. The way most maps are laid out your cloak runs out right when you get to where you want to be. Picking up fallen weapons will be a huge help.
I like the Engineer updates too, I play that and Demo the most. It'll make building your fort up easier if metal is dispensed faster. -
Its not actually a full class update. The engie will still get one later.
Anyways, I;ve run into a bunch of bugs...
As an engie you can build an invulnerable dispenser on top of the cart.
When I was playing spy I got stuck in a heavy
And I've run into a tele that got all the people stuck, and it was out in the open...
And the new teles glow even if they're exits are destroyed which is really annoying -
You mean the tele entrances? I didn't notice this in my 45 minutes or so of playing today, but i don't recall checking my tele entrance often since it was the exit that kept getting destroyed
-
And the fact that the update took out my clan servers for about 40 minutes <.<
-
hmm, contemplating whether or not to buy tf2. $20 is pretty good, but i'm kind of saving up for fallout 3 for 360
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
wow for a "update" this is pretty big
-
TF2 is worth it at $30, you gotta give it a day or two of gameplay to familiarize yourself with the maps. Everybody that plays, plays a lot, so it's a steep learning curve to not suck. After that it's awesome.
-
Start with Soldier or Pyro, and work your way from there.
But yeah, the new changes will make my life easier, ESPECIALLY the ability to get rid of stickies with bullet weapons. -
Yea I can't wait to try this out tomorrow after finals!
-
Ok, I've played for a few hours with the new update and here are my thoughts...
Level 3 teleporters are EXTREMELY useful. They can move players to the front of the fight very quickly. The almost zero recharge period allows for players to use them almost continuously. The nice thing about this is that you need only 1 or 2 attacking engineers to adequately move your troops to the front lines from the spawn.
There is still a bug where the teleporter entrance will still glow when the exit is destroyed. Hopefully that is fixed soon.
Level 3 dispensers are also very useful. They heal at a fast rate and give out large amounts of metal so you can upgrade or repair your built objects quickly. The nice thing about these is that an attacking team needs only 1 or 2 of these to adequately heal the troops on the front line.
I do wish, though, that for the upgradeable teleporters and dispensers, that there was an "upgrade meter" on the upper left as is with the sentry. Also, it'd be nice if it indicated what level they were in the upper left was well.
I haven't played as a spy for very long since the update, but it is way to easy to cloak all the way to an enemy's base without having to ever uncloak. To me, it takes away too much from the risk of being a spy. But, as I said, I haven't played much as a spy since the update so I can't comment too much on this.
I think this was a good change because before it funneled the attackers into one area that was not too difficult to defend.
At first it seemed like this would completely take away from the Demoman being able to use his stickybombs well, but fortunately engineers are usually too busy trying to upgrade their stuff to switch to the shotgun to destroy the stickies
I think it provides a little more balance for the demoman, which is a very powerful class.
IMO, apart from the level 3 teleporters, this is the most useful update. It doesn't throw things out of whack and it allows medics to make better decisions as to who to heal first.
I haven't used this yet. Any thoughts?
A nice touch that doesn't change any gameplay.
Nice touches, but doesn't affect anything.
Somewhat useful, but more of a nice touch than anything. -
L3 dispensers heal as fast as a Medic so that's a huge help. L3 teleporters also. The spy features turned me from a good, above average spy into a very good spy.
-
I noticed that some damage upgrades for the demoman.
-
How so? The demoman has always been very strong. I didn't notice it being any stronger...
-
I actually think the map update for Goldrush is easier for the defenders now.... I just sat below that new deck thing, funneling stickies in there killing... what, 25 people? I easily got top score for my team. It's so much easier now to defend that area.
Love the engie updates though.
