TF2 Update Released- New Map and More!

Woot. I've been waiting for this as medic is one of my favorite classes. See you guys online. I'm thinking about hosting a server for the summer, let me know what you think.

hmm...i am still struggling in between cod4 and TF2

 

Woot unlocked the new gun, the blutsaugher though its known as the bloodsucker. You get a new gun that shoots and steals 3 life from an enemy per needle but it can't do critical like the old gun. Its really nice, now I actually get a good amount of kills with medic. I got 16 achievements so far. Some of them are gonna be really tough. The new map isn't too shabby either though its a bit small.

If you're on linux, steam tends to run pretty well under WINE.

 

Pure awesomeness. Heavily Demomen & Pyro dominated though.

 

I reviewed both and they are both amazing. Tough call.

But steam is having a free weekend of TF2 with all the new content, then you can test the game out for a good while. Gotta love Valve.

gosh maybe joining this forum is the smartest decision i've ever made in my life! so much goodies discovery!

 

I can pick up at least 3-4 more with only 1 other person's help, that should get me at least the next weapon.

No disagreement there. I joined a server right after the update and 15 out of 20 people on the server were medics. I think they should've released all the class achievements at the same time in order to prevent this.

I can't believe they released new weapons to the most unbalanced character in the entire game

He doesn't even deserve them.

 

lol, I agree why do a character who's purpose is to heal needs new weapons, but hey he is my favor character, the more I can do with him the better!

 

Now he can fight better, and is not compleltely incapable of depending himself. Besides they are going to release an update for everyone and theres rumors that they may actually add new classes.

 

The problem is that he is never not able to defend himself. He is quite capable considering his role as a support class. The bonesaw is a great weapon, the medicgun is a great support weapon and the syringe gun is a great primary weapon.

The medic doesn't really have any major weaknesses, which other characters can take advantage of. He is only really vulnerable when he heals somebody and because he mainly stays in the background and has a übercharge which can protect him, only scouts are really great at taking him out.
Edit: That bonesaw is great for taking out scouts btw.

I basically believe that the medic needs a nerf. Drop his health down 125 and take down the damage of the bonesaw.

2edit: Something positive about this update is that the achivements are really hard to earn and I applaud valve for making a challenge out of it. And the fact that they are making updates for all other classes will probably help balancing things out for the future.

 

I just played the new map and game mode for about an hour, it is awesome once you learn how to play! Team work is actually necessary all the time if you want to win and the battles are massive and chaotic!

 

OMG! I've been waiting for the update since forever!!! FINALLY! but I still can't play until the weekend =(...oh well updating now!

 

At first, when you first play Goldrush you might think that it sucks, but once you play it a little more and get the hang of the game mode and map it absolutely rocks!

 

Yeah its pretty intense. When I first heard of it I thought it was going to be easy, but with all the fire being concentrated, it gets chaotic.

And USA, your sig seriously gets me everytime. GRR!

 

Those bastards reset all my medic achievements!!

I'd earned quite a few legitimately even though I console commanded myself the 3 new weapons, and they reset even the ones I earned in-game! Valve ****ed this up so badly. Gamers will not forget how they got screwed over.

I've been playing nonstop last night and tonight. Very fun! Goldrush is cool but a bit one sided while people learn the map. Seems like I'm either winning constantly or losing badly New medic stuff is nice because teams actually have like 3+ medics now, which makes for some crazy matches.

 

Can't wait to play this weekend!

 

1. Valve was quoted as saying prior to the update that there would be alternate ways to unlock achievements. Many people, myself included, thought the console command was Valve's way of leveling the playing field. After all, unlockable, exclusive weapons go in direct opposition with balanced, team based gameplay.

2. Removing all my achievements is not fair, regardless. There were people over at the Steam forums who did not touch the console and still lost all their achievements.

3. Blaming the user base for their own mistake, and punishing us for their mistake, is not good PR.

That's really odd. I did that aswell but instead of getting all my achivements deleted with the update I suddenly got all the normal achivements(I was 3 achivements away from getting them).

 

I'm up again now to 8/24, now I need to start farming.

Yeah, later tonight after my final. 8-10. I got 18 of the achievements. Need to heal someone more for that achievement too. Name is TheForerunner. On the NBR group too.

 

1. Why even institute the achievement unlock system if Valve wanted you to use the console to unlock the weapons? Think about this.

2. There are consequences for your actions. And I'm strictly talking about you, not everybody else on the Steam forums. They clearly don't relate to you since you used the console and they didn't. Their situation is different.

3. I still don't understand, what is Valve's mistake?

 

Valve would institute the achievement system for people who like to do achievements, and the console command just for the people who want weapons. We don't question Valve, if it's in, it's in. Consequences =/= punishment. Valve included them and a lot of people not knowing they were going to get ALL their achievements removed, used it. Valve's mistake is being heavy-handed with everybody, those who used the command and those who didn't.

 

I haven't played in a week because of school and other stuff I had to do. I hope I get a chance to play this weekend. It should be fun, because you can always use more medics in Dustbowl.

 

Yeah I'm noticing a lot more caps on dustbowl since the update. The only time we couldn't cap 2-2 on dustbowl was when Red had so many sentries at the point that even when ubered, the blow back from the sentries was too much to even get close with a pyro/demoman, and the heavy couldn't do enough damage in a short enough time.
