So i just bought the game earlier today during the sale. I installed it, everything ran fine and i played a few games in the afternoon. But now i have launched it twice again, and i join a server, the server info downloads and then i hear a short looping sound. I can't tab out, close it and task manager wont start, i would have to restart my computer manually.

Does anyone know why this is happening? It was working fine before..

    Vista home premium 64 bit
    t5750
    Mobility HD 3650
    4 gb ram

My specs should be more than enough to play the game.

Edit: Okay so i finally managed to get into a game, but its getting worse by the minute. It took 5 mins to load the server info and then the game lagged for a min on the message of the day screen with a looping sound, as well as when i was picking a character. Then there was no sound in game. I could only hear peoples voice chat.
    Not impressed thus far...

I suggest doing a system restore back to when the game worked ok. ;)

it worked ok 10 hours ago...

    Update 2:
I managed to join a game and everything was working great. Then the round ended and the game crashed AGAIN when it was loading the next map...

Try doing a system restore that is longer than 10 hours ago then. ;) :)

    What?
    How would that change anything..
I installed it for the first time and ran it for the first time 10 hours ago...

Okay i think the problem is with every map change, so far entering games has been fine but it will crash on every map change.

    Oh, ok.

well reading what you said here...
...implies that the game was working properly before.

Hmm, at this point the best suggestion i could give is to try re-installing the game, and making sure any ports that the game uses to play online are allowed on your router/modem. ;)

I think the latest update is giving many people trouble playing the game. Try waiting one or two days and hopefully Valve will fix it.

I don't think the update has anything to do with it; it plays just fine for me.

Right click TF2 in your Steam list, select Properties, Local Files, and verify the integrity of your game cache. It will take several minutes.

The problem is either your ati card or if you have an amd system. Look at my specs, I have been playing Tf2 just fine until the update occur my game would randomly freeze up and the looping sound starts which would result in me shutting down my laptop.

Just look at the steam forum here, a lot of people are having the same problem:
    http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1074910

We would just have to wait for a new update.
