Didn't want to revive the old Witcher threads so I thought I would make one. I have a few questions and problems..
-I have a 560m, OCed a little, and I just downloaded TW2. I wanted to run the game on high settings and am only getting about 15-20 FPS both in and outside. Yes UBER sampling is off, I even have texture size at medium. At medium settings my highest is still only at 25 FPS
-I just tried downloading the patch 1.2, it doesn't work when I try and patch it though. I downloaded it via steam and the message I get says that my copy of TW2 is invalid or not installed completely. Any help??
Also what temps were you guys getting? I had it at 75 degrees after like 10min of playing and it was on the rise.
In terms of drivers, note that 560m's cannot download the 275.33 driver which I heard increased performance?
-
Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
Sounds like you botched up the download somehow...
Lovely word...."botched"....
Anyways, this is why I always buy the hard copy of any game or software....even if it costs extra.
Mr. Mysterious -
Why do you think that happened? Or Steam keeps it up to date, not sure. Anyway, anyone have any ways to increase FPS?

Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Hi vapkez.
First you need to unistall nvidia 3dvision controller and driver from
Add Remove app in windows, or find a way to disable the service and free some resources (hint: gamebooster).
Also you're able to install 275.33 by using a
Modded inf. In this case go over laptopvideo2go.com and download the modded inf, your card should be supported.
Go into nvidia control panel, manage 3d settings, set these options:
- display to single display mode
- power management to prefer maximum performance (instead of adaptive)
Then try again. The 3d Vision part is vital so don't forget it. -
Turn off AA if you have it on. Also I DOF and blur is an fps killer i heard.
-
You need patch 1.2 also.
Was the 1.1 that removed the drm that slowed down the game ?
So latest drive and patch 1.2 then come back and report. -
Thanks very much for the helpful post, I just unistalled the 3d vision controller on CC cleaner and I downloaded the 275.33 and it is not compatible (I know i need the modded inf) but I cannot find it on the website, any help?
It is off
I would have, but as I said in my first post, I am not sure if steam patched it or not to the 1.2. If you have a way to check, I will gladly do it. -

http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/infs/275series/27533_win7x64/nvwi.inf
But afaik theres no support for your card yet.
However i can help you out, i can mod the inf for you.
I need the INF of a driver you were using previously THAT IS WORKING with your card. Any will do. Attach it here so i can add the required lines to the inf of the newer drivers for you. -
I cannot find it on the nvidia website, it is the 268.05 driver.
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Give me a link for it, prolly it's your manufacturer driver.
Or better yet, if you have it laying around, extract it using winrar, go into display.display folder.
There should be a file named nv4_disp.inf or nvwi.inf.
I just need that file. Just zip it and attach it here. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
First, what res are you trying to run a demanding game like the witcher 2? You have to remember that you have gts 450 in there, its much slower than the real deal gtx 460, thus it wont run pretty at the FHD res
Second, steam updates the game for you, so you wont be able to patch it third party. What you can do is right click in the game on steam> properties> local files> verify the integrity of the cache -
Could it be one of these files in one of these folder? I couldn't find one .inf file lol.
Update: Getting 25 FPS outside and 35 inside. Playable, but really wish I could get 30 FPS on high if my hardware can do it. -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
First screenshot is broken man, but at the end of the picture theres a file named NVDISP*. It should be an INF file (setup information).
I need that one. -
Yeah stupid photobucket and their crappy uploads. That site is the only site that ever crashes for me, and it happens a ton...
Heres the bottom half of that folder, but it is a .dlll file? I clicked on the file you are refering to but I do not think that is it...
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Okay so lets try with that NVCV file Setup Information.
-
NVCV.INF
Wow it shows up as an inf on media fire, wondering why my computer does not say it. And if you are able to mod it, can you please give me instructions to make sure I do not screw anything up?
Also, Mr MM. I just did what you said, and now it is downloading an update so maybe that is it. I still wish there was a place I could actually see the version I am running though... O well -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Grab the official Notebook Verde WHQL 275.33 from geforce.com or nvidia.com http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windo...ok-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql.exe
Extract it as you did before and overwrite the inf file in the folder Display.Driver.
I attached 2 modded infs. If one doesnt work, try the second. This is the best i can do for you right now, as i dont have a GTX560m notebook to test it.
Theres an high chanche that both wont work, but i guess this is better than nothing man.
About the reason you dont see the INF extention, you need to set it under Folder Options in Windows 7. Theres a tab with a load of settings, unckeck "hide file extention for known filetypes" or something like that. Anyway in tech language, the Setup Installation file is an INF file.Attached Files:

I extracted it, usually I just double clicked and the application ran..., should I replace the file and then click setup? Or do I have to manually switch out the folder?
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Uhm?
If you extracted it, you should have various folders. Go into Display.Driver folder, then grab the files i attached and extract one of them in that folder. It should ask for overwrite it, do it.
Ive just attached the file, not the folder.
Anyway after you replaced the file with one of them, run the setup. If it works, perform a clean installation using customize. -
What I mean is that I have did these steps and I am stuck on step 5.
1- Downloaded the Nvidia driver
2- Put it in a seperate folder in My Documents
3- I exracted it there. ( I can post pics if necessary)
4- Downloaded your new inf file.
5- And now I have a problem and a question. One is that the inf does not match the names of any of the ones in the new 275.33 driver so I do not know which one to replace. And two, once I replace it, do I run the setup link that came out after I extracted it? -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
I just double checked and the file ive uploaded is the same file in the Display.Driver folder, so how come it doesnt match? It should!
About the second question, yes, run the setup.
Here it is:

Must have had a none whql version that I downloaded. It worked! thanks so much for all that trouble, I have to go now for awhile but I will post my results back
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Remember to setup the display and power management under nvidia control panel man!
-
I have an odd problem. A lot of times in TW2 i will get lots of lag spikes. I'll see my gpu usage go from 99% down to 60% or lower and then a huge drop in fps for a few seconds and then it goes back up. Usually this happens when moving the camera or exploring areas. Does it take the game a while to render or something?
Specs in sig. Also I'm playing at medium at a lower custom resolution (1400x800)
No 3d drivers and on the latest drivers and all that good stuff. I usually average around 30 fps with my custom config. -
Thanks, it was very helpful. It reinstalled the 3d vision drivers and controllers. Should I just keep those?
As soon as my steam game updates I will check how it all runs! -
I've had a 275.33 modded inf for Clevo branded GTX 560M's up since it's release over in the Sager/Clevo section of the forum, see my signature.
-
I know, but if you have read this thread, I obviously couldn't figure it out. I was going to ask you but you already helped me out a ton.
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Well the important part is that you got it working. Modding the inf wasnt hard at all, its the best i can do to help.
Besides the inf includes all the mobile cards out there along with desktop ones. -
I am getting a very playable 25 FPS outdoors on medium settings with texture turned up, and a few other things turned up
. 35 inside. Thanks for all of the help. Definitely +rep.
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
To quote the Duke, "That's good!".
I wouldn't expect anything less from a gtx560m, maybe If you oc the card a bit you'll get better framerate.
At least I'm getting your same fps on my m1730 in sig, exept that im running at ultra with no ubersampling.
The game pace is not frantic or fast, anything above 25 makes it playable and smooth. -
Yeah just got to flotsam and my rpg-ness is kicking in. When I got all of my gear back after I escaped, I immediately was over encumbered. I had to drop a lot of stuff and I am hoping it didn't disappear lol. This game looks amazing even on medium with Texture quality high, texture downscaling none, shadow quality high, and number of shadowed lights high.
