After several hundred hours of TF2 since the Sniper vs Spy update in which the random drop system and hats were implemented, I finally found two hats in this same weekend: the Sniper's Trophy Belt and the Engie's Texas Ten Gallon. What hats do you guys have, or are you still poor and Irish?![]()

I have the football helmet, and the halo

Got the helmet about 2 weeks after that sniper/spy update. Honestly though, I originally thought the hats were one of the worst ideas to ever come to this game. Hearing the bickering for months just assured me of that. They add nothing to the game, and just cause thousands of people to whine. -
Pfft. Only have the halo. Not happy with the hat drop system
-
I got the mining helmet for the Engineer. I was very surprised I got it because I hadn't touched TF2 at all since before the sniper/spy update, and only after 2-3 days, I got a hat.
Never got anything else though. (Except the cheater's halo thing.)
I don't particularly care for hats as I can't see them anyways. -
I've got the Demoman's Stovepipe. I'll be looking to trade that for the Officer's Ushanka when they make trading available.
-
I don't have any hats, and I don't even have the razorback...it's lame.
-
Not that anyone really uses the Razorback anyway...I'd say it's the second worst unlock of the game after the Force-a-Nature.
-
i have the soldiers stash.

I have nothing. I despise this random drop system
-
I use the razorback....
-
I have the Halo and the Engineers cap.
Anybody know what the drop rate is? -
I have the Halo, but I haven't played since I got it. I think the hats are stupid.
-
Does anyone know the story behind the halo? Anyone here play on SourceOp server? Was funny the day they gave out the halo's, everyone on the server was pissed.

story behind the halo can be found HERE

TL;DR version of the Halo fiasco:
This started a few months ago. People were fed up with the random drop system and the extreme rarity of hats. So, a guy by the name of Drunken_f00l made an application that emulates a connection to a TF2 server that holds thousands of players at once, because the drop system only works while you're in a server. This tool essentially allowed players to "idle" in a server without launching TF2, so people could get items and occasionally, hats, while away from their computers or overnight, or any time.
Anyway, this went on for a few months and Valve didn't give a damn. They even answered emails from several users stating that "we don't really care about it". Then, on September 2, Valve updated their blog saying that everyone who used this idling program was a cheater, and they deleted every item that everyone who used the idler found, including my Fancy Fedora. And, in arguably their stupidest decision ever, they gave every player whose Steam ID was not found on the idler server a hat: the Cheater's Lament, which is to say, a halo.
In the first week or so, it was ridiculous. Halo-wearers would refuse to cooperate with the "dirty cheating scum" who didn't wear them, and vice versa. Be-haloed Medics would let non-Halo wearers burn to death before their eyes, server admins would instantly ban anyone with or without a Halo, depending on whether they had one themselves or not.
Thankfully, this has mostly stopped, but many players, Halo and non-Halo alike, are still criticizing Valve for the rather irresponsible way they handled the situation. -
i only have the halo and guess what, i've been playing TF² since day 1... 300+ hours of gameplay... not a single hat !

It doesn't matter if you've been playing since day 1...hats only came in with the Sniper vs. Spy update, which was towards the end of May of this year. So it doesn't matter if you bought the game on that day, or the very first day the game came out, you still have the same chance.
