For the past week since I've played TF2, everytime I exited an "hl2.exe is not responding" window would pop-up right after and I would have to Ctrl+Alt+Del to close it completely. It didn't effect me really but was annoying. Now the hl2.exe thing showed up while I was in the middle of the game and I had to exit. via Ctrl+Alt+Del.

    Specs: Asus F8SN-D1 T5550, 3 GB RAM, Vista 32-bit, Nvidia 9500M GS, 250gb HD

Just downloaded and installed 177.83 driver for graphics card. Wondering what's wrong and if anyone else has the same problem.

i have a similar issue too. i have TF2 installed on both my desktop and laptop. no problems whatsoever on the desktop.

but i also get the "hl2.exe is not responding" message everytime i quit the game. game runs fine while playing it's just each time i exit or quit this message pops up. i don't have to ctrl-alt-del. i just press close and it goes away.

    wonder what's causing this?

Same issues here, except that mine isn't isolated to when I shut off the game =/. It sometimes randomly comes up as I join a server or load a new map, and it's only been happening since I udated to the latest patch (or maybe the one before that).

Have all tried to update your GPU drivers to the latest? Probably there are new updates that could correct this problem..

Also u could use the F10 option in order to quite more fast the game and return to your desktop :D

One possible reason for ingame crash is the "Mat_quque_mode" command, makes sure that it is set to -1 and nothing else.

In case anyone is wondering, it is suppose to be the command that enables multithreading support for source engine, but Valve has not finish yet, so at this point it is still a beta command that receives no support from Valve.
