I didn't see any thread that encouraged the discussion of TF2 so I took the liberty of creating one.

I just started playing this game today and I can't put it down.
I've lost 4 hours of my life today in which it felt like a mere hour.

Is anybody else currently playing TF2? If so, is there anyway we could team up and play?

Good thread. I wanna play but I keep having random lag spikes lately. Usually I get 30-40 ping, but lately I've had spikes up to 700 for about 15 sec or so.
Same thing happened when I went on day of defeat randomly last night too. Guessing a router problem?

It is a fun game but I suggest you make your first priority finding a server without a buncha kiddies or d-bags. It can take a couple days but once you find a good server frequented by good people, the game gets way better.

I'm just selecting the type of gameplay I want, King of the hill or capture the points, etc and not paying attention to who is running the server. So far, I haven't encountered anyone immature or rude. I have encountered one spammer so far, but he was quickly kicked off the server.

Put your steam name if you play TF2. I'm new to the game and would love to have some mature friends.

Yeah, the key to a great TF2 experience is finding that ONE server that you make your home. I've put in over 500 hours on pretty much 1-2 servers just because of the regulars, no lag, great map rotation, etc. Good times! I should start playing again...

    Here's my SteamID, I play a great medic :)

My advice is to buy something in the mann co store so that you'll get upgraded to a premium account, that way you can get hats to drop! When you do get hats you can either trade em for metal or a crapload of weapons or you can wear them. TF2 is a very luck based game from lucky crit rockets to lucky random item drops to lucky crates that may contain unusual hats if you open them with keys.

Playing it nearly every day. Steam ID: kirrr (currently playing under the name: Ewok Harczos) You can add me if you want. Usually spending my free time on some Wolke servers for extreme madness or on some local pub server (with admin online) for more serious team based gaming. On Wolke, Spy and Soldier only. Regular matches Scout or Medic.

edit: can make livestream if somebody wants some rocket madness on fun servers :D

Does anyone have any spare.....hats? My head is cold man...I need some hats. I'll pay you back in hats, more hats than you could ever wear man...just give me a hat now ok?

In all seriousness, great game. This is the game that helped create Steam as we know it today. TF2 as a free to play game helped the servers reach critical mass, along with other notable games.

Anything you can buy in store can drop if you have a premium account. Also, the new community market lets you see crates, keys, etc for real cash (typically only a few cents but up to a few dollars for rarer items). You can also create any weapon or item with the crafting system.

The recently added co-op Mann mode is basically a horde mode, very fun as well.
