Title says it all folks! Also is it fun? Its only 20 bucks on steam so i'm considering it.

While I'd be the last advocate of TF2, I'm fairly certain it can be considered still well-played.

That being said some parts of it have devolved into a hat/achievement/item-fest. I'm not a fan of the cartoon-y, ADD play style, (and now item-hunts) but I'd say it's worth about $5, and is fairly fun with friends. I would recommend you wait and get it for that price as it frequently goes on sale from anywhere between $9.99 and $2.00.
$20 is the normal price, or if you just can't wait.

Today's peak number of players was 20,173. Is this high enough for you?

I've played TF2 a tremendous amount - it's tons of fun. Well worth $20 IMO, but Steam sometimes has it for way less. Hard to predict if/when that will happen again though.

    +1

I think I have seen it for as low as $10 at one point.

I don't play as much as I used to (mainly because it's hard to find people I like playing with on the same time as me. I keep late hours), but there is still a ton of people who still play this game.

And it is one game that will still be popular years from now.

And yes, it is loads of fun. Check out some gameplays on Youtube to get an idea of what kinda game it is.

Isn't there a good number of people here that play it? Its actually one of the few FPS games I enjoy playing, and I don't even like the FPS genre.

I think the better deal is just getting The Orange Box itself for like, 10 dollars more though.

Team Fortress 2 will be played for a few years yet. I personally got bored of it despite all the new content that has been added since its release.

It's 20$ on steam, but 10 from Target, BB, Frys, Walmart, take your pick =)

I tried it when I bought Orange Box but just couldn't get into it!

I personally think it's too frantic and not much satisfaction when you get a kill. Though I should say that I probably need more time to get used to it, and the teamplay aspect of it to give it a better rating.

CS: Source on the other hand, if my game of choice :D

There is still tons of people that play this game. Valve updates this game weekly. VERY fun game that I finally got into this year; I definitely recommend it.

There will still be a good online population in TF2 five years from now.

TF2 is going to be like Counterstrike in that there will always be a strong user base, IMHO.

Agreed. Although I have to say the game has changed a lot since the beginning. I'd imagine the player base has changed a lot also. And considering TF2 is one of the few multi-player FPS games for Mac now, should stick around longer.

actually i don't agree. i feel the player base is diminishing kinda quick. or at least the people i know who play TF2 are all leaving it for newer games that are debuting.

TF2 has plenty of players, trust me. $20 is an excellent price for it, although it's been as low as $2.49.

    Love your avatar!

And yes, it's a great great game, definitely worth a try. Find a great server, make friends with the regs, and go at it.

Don't confuse Team Fortress 2 with Modern Warfare 2. Most servers I've played on have a respawn time of about 10 sec for TF2. MW2 on the other hand...

I like the servers where it's done by rounds. First players team to either capture the points or kill all other teams players wins. That way no problem with insta-respawns.

Thats why youve got to be a team player and go for the objective. What I love doing is motivating everyone through chat, and all of a sudden my losing team turns the game around and wins. And all it takes is a few 'GET TO THE CART' and 'SNIPERS A USELESS' messages.
