Team fortress 2 anyone?

So who else here is addicted to the highly entertaining and somewhat addicting online shooter, team fortress 2?

Yeah, I actually just got back into it after a LONG hiatus!

 

I'm currently borrowing my friends profile, being salsa man.

I mainly hang out on the german server, saigns. It has 24 hour maps with bots (not the most intelligent theough), so you always have people to play against. I'm in the uk so it's a good server for me as my ping is usually 40-60ish, I'm almost always on the viaduct map since I almost exclusively snipe.

i play the "mmo" cousin to TF2, Global Agenda. much of the same style of gameplay but in a bit funner package in my opinion. there is a free trial on steam. the game is growing slowly, and improving quickly. check it out.

The free trial has been disabled right now cos of high demand. It doesn't say it's permanent.

On the plus side the game is free to play, just buy it and go.

Why is your backpack so empty? Did you just start playing or craft everything for the golden wrench?

 

Notice my texas ten gallon? I've been crafting a lot. And yes golden wrench too. No more crafting for awhile

Anyone got a good guide that explains crafting/drops in TF2 dummy style? I have no idea how the system works, occasionally I get items after I die and I have no idea how it works. I keep hearing about community items, weapons, crit-a-colas, hats, duplicates, metals, class tokens, wrenches, backpacks, item caps, achievements, milestones, and none of this makes sense as this entire convoluted system is completely unique to this game.

Am I the only other new player that is completely confused and intimidated by this system?

 

So who is enjoying the new update? Fighting the Headless Horseman is fun and chaotic since both team are going after him and at each other at the same time!

Do the Halloween mask only lasts until the end of Halloween? Or can you still use them anytime after? I didn't play last year

The "hat" that drops when you kill the NPC seems like it's only going to last until the event ends along with the masks that appear in the gifts. The hats and weapon crafted from the gifts or the special metal will be usable outside of the Halloween event afaik.

 

ive started playing it a bit on my new laptop. Anyone know what the ideal fps is on this game? I get around 35-60 maxed settings including AA.

 

If you want to be a serious TF2 player, ideal FPS would be 60+, turn down AA to 2x if you're playing on native.

If you just wanna goof around then just keep the eye candy.

 

tf2 is uber fun to play in, i've been playing for around 3years since it was first launch

 

Well it not really a new game mode, but its part of a new map and it only comes once a year around halloween. If you haven't played that map already, pretty much that guy you see pops out of one of the control points and goes on a massive rampage killing everyone on both sides. If you kill him you get an achievement which gives you a pumpkin mask and a unusual metal which then combine with something else creates that axe he is holding. Which by then you can use it for yourself.

They have another halloween map where a ghost fly around and scarce you.

 

i get 60 with 16x csaa(or claa) whatever its called in tf2. with 8x msaa i get around 35-60 depending on whats going on.
