    Aww yeah, craptop time:

    HP Pavilion DV6t-1300
    Core 2 Duo T6600 @ 2.2Ghz
    8GB Crucial DDR3 RAM @ 1066MHz
    Mobility Radeon HD 4650 w/ 1GB GDDR3 (550MHz core / 667MHz mem)
    250GB Hitachi HDD @ 7200 RPM

    Aww yeah... >_<

I can't wait to order my Sager NP9150, that'll be a considerable upgrade on all fronts. Next Friday (29th) is what it looks like now, hopefully more info surfaces about heat on the top end GPUs by then.

Well most people who feel like posting in this thread probably don't have craptops lol but yea

    Heres a REAL craptop:

    Acer 5630
    t5600 core 2 duo 1.83ghz
    Nvidia 7650m GS ddr2
    2gb RAM

    Also have a dv1600:
    t2400 core duo
    expresscard (seriously? awesome!)
AWFUL 15:9 14.1" screen, only 15:9 laptop in existence! 1280x768!
    12 cell battery

Of course, right now I'm typing on my awesome heavily upgraded, heavily modded Gateway nv78:
    t6600 2.2ghz
HP firepro m7820 being used as an AMD 5870m 1gb gddr5
...with heatsink from a Clevo x7200
    120w power adapter up from a 65w
    17.3" 72% gamut 1920x1080p LED screen from a Clevo w870cu

It will be more impressive when it has a 7970m...

It is c...but is just a pulse, go to the peak and then slide down, don't know if the problem is with my monitoring software(GPU-temp), anyway, I turned the clock back immediately

Just built a beast gaming rig last month (specs in my sig), my first ever build. Really it was surprisingly simple. Amazed at how silent the ASUS gpu runs, even under load.

Looking at upgrading my 4 year old XPS now that the iGPU in my desktop basically outperforms it. Anyone have an opinion on the Envy 15 vs the yet to be announced XPS15? How does HD7850M compare to GT640m?

oh here ya go. heres a real craptop. got the laptop for christmas 3 years ago to share with my younger brothers. Tech in the computer was already 3 years old in some spots when it was bought. God i hate best buy for their laptops. all computers they attempt to sell to you is probably overpriced junk, with the exception of a rare few, like the Asus G75VW.

    Gateway NV52-AMD Athlon 64 X2 QL-65-320 GB Hard Drive-4GB DDR2
im pretty sure this is the GPU cause i saw no nvidia stickers on the laptop
ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics9 with up to 19198 MB of HyperMemory (256 MB of dedicated system memory, up to 1663 MB of shared system memory), supporting Unified Video Decoder (UVD), OpenEXR High Dynamic-Range (HDR) technology, Shader Model 4.0, Microsoft DirectX 10.0. This laptop claims it can run directx 10, but thats a bunch of bull, it cant even run 9 without nearly crashing and lagging like a . like i said, im pretty sure the tech was waaaaaaaay outdated when i bought it. If it wasnt, it was the low end of low end.

    this computer kills me.

Seriously? Only Meaker has a legit craptop... and man, I didn't know you'd been here so long!

I probably have the crappiest laptop still in use. Its the only laptop that works with my printer. Don't ask why:
    Toshiba. 1.6ghz Pentium M
    1gb DDR RAM
    60gb HDD
1 WIFI antenna (the other one broke)

Missing both the RAM and WIFI covers
14" XGA screen with a line on it
Amazingly gets 2 hours on battery
Plastic around power jack is cracked in 2 places but still works

    The hinges wobble like crazy.

Hey man, don't knock the Gateway NV series until you've upgraded it to a 5870m gddr5 :D
But seriously, too bad it wasn't a 17" or that would actually be a possibility.

My current computer specs are in my signature. Bought on Nov.1st 2008.
Did HDD, RAM and CPU upgrades in the meantime to their current levels.

Still works fine, and for the games I play (as rare as I do), I find 9600m GT to be very adequate at mostly maxing out at 1280x800.
    :)

If it's just laptop specs, I have a fairly high-end-for-five-years-ago laptop in my Inspiron 1520. It can still actually do anything I need it to - didn't really need to build a desktop.

My desktop's quite a bit more powerful, more so than I actually use right now. But it's nice, and does let me up the settings and resolutions on games.

Sig copied below since it might change with time:

    Dell Inspiron 1520: Core 2 Duo T7500 at 2.2 GHz | GeForce 8600M GT | Hitachi Travelstar 7K320 | 3.5 GB DDR2 | XP Pro SP3
    Desktop: Core i5 i2500K | ATI Radeon 6870 | Intel SSD 320, 80 GB | 2 TB WD Caviar Green x2 | 8 GB DDR3 | XP Pro SP2 64-bit

I like that some of the "awful" laptops are in fact perfectly usable machines. Even some with quad-cores...

I officially have the lowest wPrime score in the Bye Bye Super Pi thread at NBR, but that was with my dad's old Pentium 166 MHz laptop. I don't think that machine's actually been turned on in a couple years, though it probably does still work.

Yeah... I'd be pretty careful with that. This reminds me of my friend who was convinced his GPU's temperature sensor was faulty because it was reading 149 Celsius or something in that ballpark. Not too many days later, it blew up (literally). So the moral of that story is, assume that the temperature sensor is accurate.

This public service announcement has been brought to you by my friend who now has a different GPU and a greater respect for temperature sensors.
