Hey guys. Recently, I had my motherboard and therefore my GPU replaced on my laptop noted in my sig. Well, after it was first installed and booted up, during a game or even while not playing one, the screen would flash and I'd get the message "Display driver has stopped working and has succesfully recovered", and the driver is nvdlddmkm.
Okay, so this problem is seemingly talked about a lot on the Internet. Well, I did a system restore back to my OEM drivers, back in June 2006. Well, now when I try to install a driver either from Dell, Windows Update, or from LaptopVideo2Go, my computer won't even go past the Windows loading screen (the one with the green bars scrolling at the bottom showing that it's loading). It'll go blue, but never show the flashing Windows Vista logo. So now I'm stuck without being able to play any games, and if I try to watch a video outside of streaming it, there's very noticeable lag (you can hear something seconds before it happens visually).
I called Dell, but they just want me to send it to the repair facility... AGAIN! They already replaced my battery, my monitor, my palmrest, and the motherboard and video card twice. If I send it to them, it means another 2+ weeks there, and I need this computer working for college, of which I do have visual classes I need to study for their finals. This is getting really frustrating. Does anyone know how to solve this situation? Thanks for any help you can offer.

I would do a bit of research to see just how much Dell has spent to "repair" your laptop. If you have actual receipts all the better. But use this to prove to them that replacing it all together would be whats best for them and you.

Yeah. Last time I sent it to them, they actually over torqued the screws and ending up completely breaking the 6-7 screws holding down the palmrest, which is the reason the guy had it replace it. :-/

Have you tried to reload the O/S? When I was still working for Dell it was policy to wipe the systems that come in for service. It became policy as too many systems were coming in for service for the same issue and the issue was not related to hardware but to software. I don't know if they still do that, been a while since I left. Your best bet is to send it in sorry, if you try to get a local repair place to do it you will void your warranty. -
If you mean reinstall the OS, I did that already, but it's the problem of not being able to get the new drivers to install properly.

Yay! I tried Windows Update again, and it installed properly! Now I'm on the latest driver with absolutely no problems, playing Left 4 Dead the way it was meant to be played -- on high settings! Thanks for the help, guys!
