    Hey all, i have a dell d620 with a nvidia quadro 110m.

I understand this is in know way a gaming card, however with XP SP2 i was getting fps's of 75 in cod2, 70 in css, and full fps in frozen throne.

However when updating to vista and latest driver for my card all games run badly and when using windows key + tab its a little slow compared to my desktop (which has a similar powerful card).

Anybody know how i can get around this?!

    thanks for any help!

Not until better drivers come out for Vista.

This is a very common issue right now.

As mentioned, Vista just hasn't matured enough to where gaming performance will equal that of XP's. It will come around though. Just be patient :).

The problem is nVidia hasn't produced release-level drivers yet. Their current drivers for Vista are betas at best, and to be honest I would not switch to Vista with a high end nVidia card until they stop sitting on their hands and produce something approaching the level of the latest ATI Catalysts.

No; the 110M is based on the Go7300, which is about as fast as a Radeon X1300.

how does this guy get 75 fps on cod2? I have a e1505 with the specs in my sig and using decent settings i can only get like 40 tops..unless i set it back to direct x 8 or w/e it is.

He probably does have COD2 set to DirectX 7 mode, which is a noticeably quality hit but provides a massive performance boost, and if DirectX 7 mode allows you to turn texture and model details up, it is probably a better choice.

My understanding also, reading numerous threads on the subject (albeit some were articles in 'inquirer' lol). Nvidia seems to have dropped the ball. Don't agree with some that nvidia and ati are dead tho' (regarding gpgpu's by intel).
