Well, I never played the original, but I love the second one. It is just tons of funs, great characters and great maps. Seems like a lot of thought went into keeping everything balanced.

I can't make a direct comparison so the first one, but I can say it is a super fun game, not to mention you get HL2, Episode 1, Episode 2 and Portal in the Orange Box....it's a steal if you ask me. :)

Ive been playing TF2 since release day which hasnt been that long but already I feel like I got my $30 worth out of it. Since its based on teamwork its tons of fun when your team knows what they are doing. There are too few maps but the maps it does come with are excellent and very replayable. To me, especially in a multiplayer fps the gameplay and maps are much more important than the graphics which determine the replay factor of the game. Fortunately TF2 does them all pretty well. Steam works ok but I would rather not have to run a separate application, do all valve games require running steam now? Anyways definitely go and grab it, it has a fun and unique style of gameplay. :)

i think you will be pleasently surprised at how they incorporated the classic team fortress mod for quake 1 and revitilized it into a new game. the classes all still work according to the original classic and the best part - map 2fort!! (i swear i played that map on the original classic and never got enough of it, simple yet very fun)
