The goal is to narrow down the choices to 3. I would like to hear thoughts and opinions.

Choosing would be based on performance, build & display quality, heat management, battery life & upgrade-ability. The areas that are focused on are:
    • Performance Specs
    • Display Quality
    • Heat management (cooling)
    • Build quality
    • Battery Life (for gaming systems ranking, to a lesser extent).
    • Upgrade-ability
In picking the top 3 gaming laptops under $1200 as of March, 2017, all three systems should have at least an i7 quad core 6th generation processor , 8 GB RAM which of course is ideal for any gaming at this point in time, the GTX 1060 dedicated graphics card, an SSD and 1080p display or better.

    The 3:

    Gigabyte P55Wv6-PC3D Gaming Laptop

Eluktronics P650RP6 Premium VR Ready Gaming Laptop

    ASUS FX502VM-AS73 Gaming Laptop

You might be wondering why the Asus with the newer processor and of course, having a better storage and Memory (RAM) than both the Gigabyte and Eluktronics ends up at 3rd place.

    It's fall down points:

    • It uses a TN panel which is of a lower quality than the IPS panel used by the other two competitors.
    • It tends to get very hot when put under serious workload (other two laptops have much better cooling systems).
    • It's build quality is not bad at all, but the Gigabyte and Eluktronics have better.
    • It has the GTX 1060 graphics card with only 3 GB V-RAM Versus the 6 GB version the Eluktronics and Gigabyte have. In addition, the version in those those two laptops has more cuda-cores which can be very advantageous in certain games and applications.

The FX502VM actually has the same shader count and does not conform to the Desktop 3GB variants. The FX502VM also never even made it to 80 degrees Celcius in the unit I owned on either CPU or GPU.
    Taken from the same thread:
"76 degrees max CPU, 77 max GPU on Firestrike (normal setting)"
I also owned the Eluktronics P650 mentioned above and can say from personal ownership / experience that the P650 is much louder and willing to turn on it's fans to a higher %. The P55 I cannot comment on.

Honestly, I'd suggest saving a bit more and getting a 1070 version P650... It will lastt so much longer then the 1060 version!
