Can it exist? I think not. I thinks it's a bit ridiculous every thread about either card turns into a fanboy filled bickerfest. Anyways...mine should be here Monday :D

All I know is this generation is even. Shame nvidia don't have mid-high end range for mobile. Amd are taking there time with the 7950m and 7870m's.

It seems like edit : the card that shall not be named ;P wins for dual card setups and 7970M takes the cake for single.

Both the comparison threads were closed before I could get in my two cents worth, so here goes. :) Just so nobody thinks I'm a fanboy, I've never owned an AMD or ATI card. I usually run linux, and only use Windows for gaming. Red and green drivers may or may not be better in Windows, but the green team does a better job keeping up with the ABI changes in linux kernel releases. That said, Intel drivers are far and away the best for linux machines that don't dual boot for gaming.

However, IMHO, even the most ardent green fanboy should give this round to AMD. What would the green mobile flagship card have been if the 7970m hadn't blown everybodies socks off? It would have been that 768 core, P4900 slow poke that was leaked so long ago. AMD pretty much forced the competion to produce the beast they were probably planning for the next release. So,

    Thank you AMD!

The 7970m uses the exact same chip as the desktop 7870. The clocks are set lower on the mobile version. Out of curiosity, I set my clocks to the same values (ok a little lower because they were unstable at 7870 clocks) and the results matched.

Yeah generally the third from the top single GPU card they have available, they lower the clocks on that and sell that as their flagship mobile GPU. nv this year saw the performance of the desktop 660 and the mobile 7970m and knew that to match up and then beat the 7970m, the 680m could not be based off the desktop 660. That is at least my opinion but it seems correct.....why else would nv deviate from what they have been doing?

Yeeeey after almost 2 months waiting my NP9170 with a 7970m arrives today! It's already out for delivery!

I haven't been very active here on the forum in the past month, so I'm going to ask:

1 - What is the current best drive for the 7970m for W7 (64-bit)?

2 - What did the 680m turned out to be? haha haven't read posts talking about it yet

    Thx!

Using the 12.7 here and all my games so far running stable with OC. I do wish I had a button to turn off Enduro, but not get rid of, I like it. And wish Clevo unlocked OverDrive since I hate Afterburner.

Isn't Overdrive dictated by the AMD driver and not Clevo?

The 680M only came from the desktop GTX 670 because the 660 wasn't (and still isn't) ready.

A higher clocked 660 or 660 Ti variant would've been much more ideal, but they had to get a card out by July.

Finally got mine yesterday. Updated to 12.7 and everything runs great. The only thing that bothers me is the fan noise...but not very much.
